Job Description
The Vacancy
Full-time: 37 hrs per week - Hybrid Working
Proposed Interview Date: TBC
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Surveyor to lead and manage a team of 5 Asset surveyors delivering high-quality condition surveys and stock data collection, technical inspections, and responsive repairs surveys across Saffron's property portfolio and support the Head of Property Maintenance and the wider Asset team with strategic asset planning, contribute to investment programmes, and drive continuous improvement in survey and repair practices.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Lead, manage, motivate, and develop a team of Asset surveyors.
- Provide technical oversight of condition and responsive repairs surveying, including diagnosis of building defects, damp and mould assessments, and specification of remedial works.
- Undertake surveys to inform legal disrepair cases and provide schedules of dilapidation and associated repairs to bring cases to resolution.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety, building regulations, and internal policies and procedures. Keep accurate records, certificates, and inspection data for audit and compliance purposes.
- Plan and allocate workload, ensuring surveys and inspections meet service targets and SLAs

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have
Education and Qualifications:
- A recognised Degree, HNC or Building Surveyor qualification or the equivalent experience (E).
- Professional membership or working towards membership of a relevant body (e.g. RICS, CIOB, CIH) (D).
Experience
- Significant experience in residential surveying within social housing or similar environments.
- Strong technical understanding of building pathology, construction methods, and repairs diagnostics.
- Experience in managing survey teams or supervising technical staff.
- Knowledge of asset management systems and stock condition data standards.
- Understanding of compliance requirements including HHSRS, damp & mould, fire safety, asbestos, and building safety legislation.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Sound knowledge of building construction, materials, defects, and relevant legislation (including Building Regulations, CDM, and health & safety) (E).
- Experience working within social housing, local authority, or similar asset management environments (D).
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, contractors, and colleagues at all levels (E).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, possessing the ability to liaise with various audiences both in writing and verbally (E).
- Able to work as part of a team and able to work independently without the need for close supervision (E).
- Excellent time management skills, including an ability to prioritise workload and meet agreed deadlines (E).
- Ability to identify, develop, and deliver solutions to problems that are sensible, practical, and proportionate to the risk (E).
- Knowledge of procurement processes and contract administration (D).
- Excellent IT skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for site visits.

We manage over 6,000 homes including affordable homes for those in housing need who cannot afford to rent or buy in the open market.
