Senior Surveyor
Senior Surveyor - Leading Housing Association
Hays are delighted to be working in partnership with a leading housing association that manages and maintains thousands of homes across London and the surrounding regions. Committed to delivering safe, high-quality homes and services, our client is investing in its property services team to ensure residents receive an excellent customer experience while maintaining the highest standards.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Surveyor to join a progressive organisation that places residents at the heart of everything it does.
Your New Role
As Senior Surveyor, you will:

Lead a small team of surveyors, providing technical expertise and guidance on:
- Complex repairs
- Structural defects
- Damp and mould investigations
- Specialist property-related issues
-
Play a key role in:
- Accurately diagnosing and resolving building defects
- Ensuring compliance and achieving value for money
- Delivering positive outcomes for residents

Work closely with internal teams and contractors to:
- Support service improvements
- Enhance property maintenance operations
Key Responsibilities

Team Management & Technical Delivery
- Manage and support a team of surveyors, ensuring high standards in technical delivery and customer service.

- Lead investigations into:

- Structural defects
- Damp and mould cases

- Provide expert technical advice and post-inspection support to colleagues and stakeholders.

Capital Works & Project Support
- Support delivery of:
- Planned and ad hoc capital works programmes

Resident & Asset Management
- Review resident home improvement requests and advise on impact on housing assets.

- Identify opportunities for service improvements.
- Contribute to wider business initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and case management through internal systems.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
To excel in this Senior Surveyor role, you must have:
Essential Experience & Knowledge
✔ Proven surveying or property maintenance experience within:
- Housing
- Local authority
- Contractor
- Property management
✔ Team leadership experience (managing or supervising a team).
✔ In-depth knowledge of:
- Building construction
- Property maintenance
- Defect diagnosis
✔ Significant experience in:
- Investigating and resolving damp and mould issues.
✔ Strong understanding of the:
- Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS).
