You’ll be joining a dynamic Property Services team within Housing, Environment and Healthy Communities, playing a vital role in supporting the Council’s strategic landholding and regeneration ambitions. The team works collaboratively across services and with external partners to deliver complex property transactions, valuation work and asset management initiatives. With a strong focus on delivering value, driving regeneration, and providing expert advice, the team operates at both a strategic and operational level to ensure the Council’s property portfolio is effectively managed and aligned to wider corporate objectives.

What You Will Get To Do

  • Lead on land and property transactions, including acquisitions, disposals and valuation work to support regeneration and strategic aims
  • Provide strategic development and property advice at both conceptual and delivery stages of projects
  • Undertake professional work across landlord and tenant matters, including lease renewals and rent reviews
  • Deliver corporate property and asset management work, negotiating and valuing rights and interests for the Council
  • Take ownership of defined work areas such as Right to Buy valuations and other specialist programmes
  • Act as an intelligent client, procuring and managing external consultants and surveying partners
  • Contribute to the development of property strategies and policies to support service delivery
  • Prepare reports and represent the Council at internal and external meetings
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, coordinating input across services to support acquisitions and disposals
  • Support a client-focused culture and assist the Team Leader in driving service excellence

What You Will Bring

  • Strong knowledge of property legislation, local authority procedures, and commercial property markets, including valuation and (ideally) compulsory purchase methodology
  • Proven experience delivering property acquisitions, disposals, and valuation work within a complex environment
  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills, with the ability to produce clear reports and influence stakeholders
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines, work independently, and contribute effectively as part of a team
  • Experience acting as an intelligent client, commissioning and managing external consultants
  • Proficiency in property appraisal tools, spreadsheets, databases and wider ICT systems
  • RICS membership (or working towards it) and ability to travel (driving licence or equivalent mobility)
