About the Role
About the Team
AECOM is seeking a Senior Sustainability Consultant to join our Sustainability & Decarbonisation Advisory team, part of the Building Engineering Business Line. The team is a recognized leader in sustainable development.
The Opportunity
You'll play a pivotal role in delivering Sustainability & Carbon consulting, assisting public and private sector clients in designing and implementing low-carbon, resilient, and sustainable estates. Your area of focus will span sectors like healthcare, education and commercial, with special emphasis on the UK Defence & National Security industry.
Key Responsibilities
With the support of our team, you will:
- Support clients in understanding and defining sustainability & decarbonisation requirements
- Develop, deliver, and review whole-life carbon reduction strategies and methods across various frameworks (e.g., Greater London Authority guidelines, LETI, RIBA Plan of Work, RICS, BREEAM)
- Work closely with clients and design teams to align sustainability & decarbonisation strategies from early design stages through construction
- Provide support for assessment certification schemes like BREEAM, DREAM, and LEED (having LEED/Well experience is desirable)
- Conduct Sustainability Appraisals using frameworks like Social Assessment and Sustainability Audit Worksheets (SAW & SEEAM+)
- Support project management tasks and planning
- Contribute to work winning by crafting compelling bids and tender responses
- Mentor junior staff in sustainability practices

Requirements
- A strong grasp of the building design & construction process
- Experience in whole-life carbon analysis, especially using OneClick LCA, as well as:
- BREEAM and DREAM assessment certification schemes
- Sustainability appraisals and social assessment frameworks
- Numerical and analytical skills: Ability to interpret data and apply it to innovative sustainability solutions
- Strong communication skills: Experience translating and presenting technical sustainability concepts clearly and concisely
- Attention to detail: Methodical approach to problem-solving in complex technical areas
