Senior Systems Administrator – Infrastructure Automaton & Modernisation
About the Role
London Business School is seeking a highly capable Senior Systems Administrator to design, deliver, and operate resilient, secure, and highly automated infrastructure platforms that support the School’s teaching, research, and administrative systems.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced infrastructure professional with deep technical expertise, a strong automation mindset, and a passion for building reliable, scalable services.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Designing, delivering, and supporting secure, resilient and scalable infrastructure platforms.
- Leading the administration and modernisation of VMware and Microsoft Azure environments.
- Driving automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using Terraform.
- Implementing and improving CI/CD pipelines through Azure DevOps.
- Administering and supporting Windows and Linux systems (with priority to Ubuntu).
- Standardising infrastructure operations and reducing manual effort through automation and scripting.
- Troubleshooting and resolving complex infrastructure issues across hybrid environments.
- Designing, documenting, and implementing technical standards, solutions, and operational procedures.
- Collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver infrastructure solutions.
- Acting as a subject matter expert and mentor in platform administration and modernisation.

Who We Are Looking For
We require candidates with significant experience in:
- Administering and supporting hybrid infrastructure environments.
- VMware and Microsoft Azure platforms.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC), preferably using Terraform.
- Implementing or supporting CI/CD through Azure DevOps.
- Strong Windows and Linux administration experience, with Ubuntu preferred.
- Advanced scripting proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, or equivalent.
- Solid understanding of:
- Systems security (access control, patch management, vulnerability management, secure configuration).
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving in hybrid environments.
- Ability to design and document technical standards, procedures, and solutions.
- Experience working collaboratively with technical and non-technical teams.
- At least 5 years’ IT experience in:
- Information systems support
- Administration
- Risk management
- Disaster recovery
- Working understanding of Identity Management, including Entra (Azure AD) and Auth0.

Working Hours & Flexibility
- Core hours: 10:00–15:00 (for maximum connectivity and teamwork).
- Outside these times, availability for meetings may be required.
