Role: Senior Systems Administrator Contract Type: 6-Month Contract Rate: £520 per day Location: Hybrid Start: ASAP
About the Role
A leading Financial Services client is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to join their technology team on a 6-month contract.
This role is ideal for a candidate with a strong Managed Service Provider (MSP) background. You’ll work across multiple technologies, managing competing priorities to deliver enterprise infrastructure solutions in a fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will-support and deliver complex projects in infrastructure, server, networking, cloud, and IoT, collaborating with internal stakeholders, vendors, and project teams to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
To excel in this role, you will:
- Administer and support enterprise Windows and Linux server environments.
- Deliver server engineering activities, including:
- System deployments and upgrades
- Patch testing and configuration validation
- Operational support
- Support and troubleshoot IoT devices, hardware integrations, and connected systems.
- Configure and manage SaaS applications, including APIs, SAML, and OIDC authentication.
- Work across enterprise networking technologies, such as:
- Firewalls
- Load balancers
- Proxy services
- Cloud-integrated infrastructure
- Deliver infrastructure migrations, server deployments, device rollouts, and technical implementations.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, Shell, or Perl.
- Produce technical documentation tailored for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborate with architects, project managers, vendors, and operational teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Enforce security best practices for authentication, encryption, access control, and infrastructure management.
- Support knowledge sharing and mentor junior team members as required.

Essential Skills & Experience
You should have:
- Proven experience as a Senior Systems Administrator in MSP or enterprise environments.
- Strong expertise in Windows and Linux administration.
- In-depth knowledge of enterprise networking, including firewalls, load balancers, proxy services, and network security.
- Experience supporting IoT/OT devices and hardware integration.
- Proficiency with SaaS platforms, APIs, SAML, and OIDC.
- Excellent scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, Shell, or Perl).
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS).
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Comfort working across multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Desirable Skills
While not essential, the following would be advantageous:
- Strong MSP/Professional Services experience.
- Experience in enterprise migration and transformation projects.
- Cloud infrastructure and automation proficiency.
- Knowledge in cybersecurity and identity management.
- ITIL or equivalent service management experience.
