Senior System Engineer
Senior Systems Engineer – MBSE Specialist (12-Month Contract)
Location: Reading / Aldermaston area (Full-time onsite) Duration: August 2026 – August 2027 Rate: £500 per day Flexibility: 4-day week or 9-day fortnight available Sector: Defence / High-Tech Engineering
The Opportunity
Are you a Senior Systems Engineer who specializes in driving Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices?
Seeking an experienced MBSE Specialist to support and enhance engineering models within a mission-critical defence environment. This role ensures:
- Model integrity
- Tool integration optimisation
- Clear data visualisation for executive decision-making
Key Responsibilities
- Champion and enforce MBSE frameworks, including:
- Requirements management
- Interface definition
- Trade studies
- Interdisciplinary integration
- Maintain model consistency, integrity and usability across diverse teams
- Optimise model deployment and secure seamless tool integration with internal systems
- Develop SQL database infrastructure maintenance processes
- Translate complex engineering data into clear visualisations and reports for senior leadership and SMEs
- Deploy verification & validation strategies to ensure accuracy, traceability, and reliability

What We Are Looking For
- Deep MBSE expertise with hands-on experience managing complex engineering models
- Strong data analysis, reporting, and SQL/database skills
- Proven track record implementing verification & validation frameworks in high-stakes environments
- Exceptional stakeholder communication, collaborating with:
- Multidisciplinary teams
- Executive leadership
