Senior Systems Engineer

Location: Burgess Hill (Hybrid Working)
Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 + 7.5% annual bonus
Hours: Monday - Friday 1pm finish on a Friday

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join an innovative engineering team focused on delivering complex, next-generation technologies for the semiconductor sector. This is an exciting opportunity to influence product development from concept through to validation, industrialisation, and implementation while driving the adoption of best-practice systems engineering methodologies.

Working within multidisciplinary teams, you will provide technical leadership, manage system-level requirements, support strategic decision-making, and contribute to the development of future technology roadmaps.

The Role

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will lead systems engineering activities across a range of complex projects, ensuring customer, technical, and business requirements are translated into robust system architectures and deliverable solutions.

You will collaborate closely with product development, technology, applications, engineering, and programme teams to drive successful project outcomes while mentoring and supporting other engineers within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Systems Engineering activities across multiple projects and programmes.
  • Develop and implement systems engineering strategies aligned with system lifecycle processes.
  • Capture and define stakeholder needs, translating them into clear and structured system requirements.
  • Develop functional and logical architectures, diagrams, and engineering models.
  • Contribute to validation and verification planning activities.
  • Lead requirements management and technical integration activities throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support technical decision-making through trade-off analysis and risk management.
  • Ensure effective collaboration between multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop engineers in Systems Engineering best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement and the adoption of Systems Engineering methodologies across the organisation.

About You:

  • Proven experience (5+ years) applying Systems Engineering principles within a complex engineering environment.
  • Strong experience in requirements management and system-level design.
  • Practical experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Experience defining stakeholder needs and translating them into system requirements and architectures.
  • Strong understanding of system interfaces, integration, and multidisciplinary engineering collaboration.
  • Experience implementing and embedding Systems Engineering processes and best practices.
  • Previous experience coaching, mentoring, or training engineers.
