Systems Engineer
Whitehall Resources are currently looking for a Systems Engineer based in Shropshire on a remote basis for an initial 10-month contract.

Job Spec:
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will work with our customer and industry partners on a programme of national importance to support and improve UK ATM infrastructure. You will be given the opportunity to grow and take on responsibility from day one in a challenging and rewarding customer-facing environment.
Main responsibilities:
This is a customer-focused role, so you will need to explore and understand our customer’s domain, needs, and programme, including legacy systems, systems context, and target value. You will be a proactive senior systems engineering lead with responsibility for understanding and specifying aspects of the problem and solution. Your responsibilities include:
- Defining and planning the systems engineering needed to derive definitive specifications from high-level requirements.
- Leading a small, multi-disciplined team of systems engineers, and domain and engineering specialists to deliver this.
- Being the engineering point of contact for aspects of the problem and solution.
- Engaging with stakeholders and specialists at a range of organizational levels.
- Managing team delivery to quality, schedule, and budget.
- Hands-on systems engineering; analyzing and modeling large data sets, documents, and legacy systems, with the help of AI LLM assistants, specifying solutions, and establishing traceability using our (ISO 15288 aligned) requirements and MBSE frameworks.
- Working in a multi-disciplinary team to specify and integrate complex safety-critical systems. This will require you to understand and evaluate ATM operational processes and use-cases, and non-functional system properties such as safety, security, reliability, maintainability, and usability.
- Contributing to Capgemini Engineering by developing strong client relationships and domain knowledge, using collaborative ways of working, and mentoring team members, contributing to capability development.

Key Skills:
- Engineering or science degree, with substantial experience (10+ years) delivering high-integrity systems engineering projects in a regulated industry.
- Strong knowledge of relevant industry-standards and systems engineering processes across the full lifecycle, including requirements management, system specification, verification & validation, and systems integration.
- Experience in customer-facing, systems engineering lead roles to deliver safety-critical systems.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong customer relationships, with proven stakeholder management and experience leading teams to deliver high-value outcomes.
- Hands-on experience in stakeholder management, requirements management, authoring natural language specifications, the use of MBSE (SysML/UML), and systems integration.
- Ability to work effectively and autonomously in collaborative, multi-disciplinary environments with strong communication, influencing, and presentation skills.

Desirable
- Experience in Air Traffic Management systems.
- Proficiency with deploying and using Sparx Enterprise Architect.
- Experience using SysML or UML.
- Professional Systems Engineering certification (e.g., INCOSE CSEP/ESEP), or a clear desire to work towards it.
- Chartered Engineer status, or active progress toward achieving chartership.
