Senior Systems Engineer
Location: Hampshire (with occasional UK & international travel)
Overview
Our client is a well-established engineering organisation specialising in the design and delivery of advanced technology solutions used in highly complex and challenging environments, including offshore and subsea applications.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Senior Systems Engineer to join a specialist team delivering bespoke, high-performance systems. This role offers the opportunity to work across the full engineering lifecycle - from early concept development through to integration, validation and final delivery.
You'll be joining a collaborative, multi-disciplinary engineering team, contributing to technically demanding projects with global reach.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical development and delivery of complex, custom-built systems and instrumentation
- Provide technical oversight across the full project lifecycle, from concept through to delivery
- Work closely with internal teams and customers to define requirements and develop effective solutions
- Support bid activity, including technical proposals, planning and effort estimation
- Oversee system integration, verification and validation across hardware, firmware and software elements
- Ensure solutions meet customer specifications, compliance standards and commercial objectives
- Coordinate work across software, electronics, mechanical and systems engineering teams
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues at both subsystem and system level
- Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including specifications, reports and test records
- Identify and manage technical risks, providing updates to stakeholders
- Represent the engineering team in customer meetings, trials and technical discussions
- Support ongoing operations by providing technical expertise and engineering support

About
You will be an experienced engineer with strong systems-thinking capability and the ability to operate across complex engineering programmes, ideally within offshore or subsea environments.
You will ideally have experience in:
- Systems engineering, engineering design or complex product/project delivery
- Working with customers and stakeholders in technical environments
- Fault finding, root cause analysis and problem-solving
- System integration and software-led systems
- Mechanical and/or analogue and digital electronics engineering
- Producing structured technical documentation
- Managing multiple projects and competing priorities
- Exposure to tools such as CAD and project/task management systems (e.g. Jira)

Qualifications
Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline such as:
- Systems Engineering
- Electronics Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Software Engineering
- Communications Engineering
- Or a related field
