Senior Systems and Performance Manager – Work Winning

Work Winning is the performance-driven, strategic team that secures Costain’s future (5-year rolling) workload—generating the majority of revenue and profit. The team isstructured into three focused units:
- Natural Resources Work Winning (NR WW) Covers Water, Energy, and Defence & Nuclear Energy
- Transportation Work Winning
- Central Team The shared creative and knowledge management group assisting both NR WW and Transportation Work Winning by first sourcing evidence and aligning case studies with CRM systems to shape future bids.
The [Senior Systems and Performance Manager]((', exits after job description)'—serves as the key agent for continuous improvement and process transformation in Work Winning, driving deeper analytics on team performance. You will:
- Lead major change initiatives aligning with strategic business development and key account management
- Implement and champion a system that:
- Evolves CRM use for targeted growth pipelines
- Harvests and мон bon success evidence to strengthen competitive proposals
- Monitor and coach team compliance with Work Winning processes, driving a culture of optimisation
- Apply best practice internally by collecting, communicating, and promoting lessons learned
- Steer management information, focusing on the "check" stage of the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle for Work Winning at the request of both divisional Work Winning directors
- Begin by engaging primarily with the NR WW team, but transition into coordinating efforts across NR and Transportation Work Winning upon successful completion of NR-backed projects

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Change & Process Leadership
- Drive impactful transformation in Work Winning tools, methods, and workflow to elevate cost-effectiveness and strategic agility
- Integrate solutions that evolve CRM and proposition evidence capture, ensuring every losing bid yields forward-looking insights
Performance Optimisation & Compliance Coaching
- Set and enforce robust process compliance standards across Work Winning (NR WW + Transportation)
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by building and sharing playbooks for bid-winning best practices
Data-Driven Analytics & Reporting
- Provide the essential metrics and automation Work Winning’s senior leaders need to assess and publish performance trends
- Present insights that empower data-centric decision-making—such as winning/losing triggers, process efficiency, and revenue attribution—to directors
Cross-Division Expansion (Post-Initiative on NR)
- Develop cross-teams proficiency in Knowledge Management & Case Studies
- Analyse how different conditions (e.g. procurement timelines, regulatory perturbations) shape NR WW bids compared to Transportation
Requirements
Essential
- Expertise in Work Winning and bid management, preferably within infrastructure or engineering, alongside a strategic eye for process automation
- Skilled in leading constrained-resource transformation programmes with measurable KPIs—think reinvention of systems rather than incremental tweaks
- Proven track record as a performance coach: motivating teams to adopt new ways of measuring and delivering pre-defined outputs
- Strong management report-writing skills: you curate insights from raw data that inform frontline and executive decisions
- Confident supply-chain/cost lead to support evidence fabrication for commercial bids
- Collaboration-seeker with stakeholder alignment ability—especially in merging sales tactics with analytics pragmatism
- Understanding of visual data storytelling to articulate complex bid-clusters and creative solutions to leadership

Desirable
- Experience in CRM compliance and alignment with Corporate Performance Profitability departments
- Technical project controls skills (e.g. Gateways/Stage-Plan) to interface with the divisional directors’ reporting demands
- Practical exposure to early-stage innovation testing tied to key account pipelines
