Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid position for a Senior Systems Engineer (4th Line) based in Oxford, with flexibility for remote work. The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for:
- Systems engineering
- Troubleshooting
- Systems administration
- Technical support
- Systems design
The role will play a key part in business growth by delivering proactive IT solutions and ensuring efficient technology utilisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Advanced Support
- Provide expert-level 3rd line support across a range of technologies to ensure stability, security, and efficiency in IT operations.
- Broad Technical Expertise
- Leverage specialist knowledge to support critical infrastructure, including:
- Networking
- Storage
- Firewalls
- Leverage specialist knowledge to support critical infrastructure, including:
- Technical Escalation
- Act as the primary escalation point for internal teams, demonstrating strength in troubleshooting and issue resolution.
- Collaborative Issue Resolution
- Work closely with Service Managers and the Service Desk team to address escalated incidents efficiently.
- Client Onboarding & Service Transition
- Play a vital role in smooth client onboarding, ensuring seamless service transitions and integrations.
- Incident & Change Management
- Manage and progress:
- Incidents
- Changes
- Service requests
- Maintain high standards of service delivery.
- Manage and progress:
- Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing
- Coach and mentor team members, fostering a culture of learning and development.
- Operational Standards
- Help define and refine best practices, processes, and procedures to maintain operational excellence.
- Documentation & Knowledge Base
- Develop and maintain detailed knowledge base articles to empower internal teams and clients.

The Ideal Candidate
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Holds Microsoft certifications (e.g., AZ-104 or AZ-305) or equivalent demonstrable knowledge.
- Preferably holds networking certifications (e.g., CCNA or CCNP) or equivalent expertise.
- Strong experience in:
- Maintaining Windows Server
- Network infrastructure
- Deep knowledge of:
- Windows OS
- Active Directory (AD)
- DNS
- PKI (Public Key Infrastructure)
- Expertise in:
- Network security management (on-premises and cloud-based)
- Switching
- Routing
- Firewalls
- VPN technologies
- Ability to:
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues using an evidence-based approach.
- Drive improvements in problem management aligned with business goals.
