Systems Engineer

We're looking for a capable Systems Engineer to support the design, integration, test, and delivery of complex engineering products across multiple programmes. This role offers broad technical exposure, real ownership, and the opportunity to influence products from concept through to in-service support.

Ideal for an engineer who enjoys working across disciplines, mentoring others, and seeing systems through their full lifecycle.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Supporting systems design, integration, and test activities
  • Working across the full product lifecycle, from concept through to delivery and support
  • Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams covering software, mechanical, and electrical engineering
  • Producing clear, accurate technical proposals, specifications, and reports
  • Supporting and mentoring junior engineers
  • Applying your skills flexibly across multiple projects and product lines
  • Working with internal teams, customers, and external partners
  • Travelling as required to support project and business needs

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Degree-level qualification in Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience in systems design, integration, and test
  • Strong understanding of systems and product lifecycles
  • Broad engineering awareness across software, mechanical, and electrical domains
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High standard of written English with strong technical documentation ability
  • Willingness to travel for business needs
  • UK driving licence
  • Eligible for UK Security Clearance

Desirable

  • An understanding of Radar and Radio Systems is desirable, although not essential if other complementary skills demonstrate a capacity to understand new technologies quickly and effectively.
  • Experience of the whole product lifecycle (concept generation, concept demonstration, development, production and in-service support).
  • Experience of test houses and external verification activities to external standards (MIL STD/Def Stan / IEC).
  • Experience of working with and developing systems using communications protocols. (e.g. RS485, RS232, TCP-IP, CANBus etc.).
  • Experience of working on product development for Naval Platforms.
  • Experience of working on or with Navigation equipment.
  • Experience with common test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes and spectrum analysers.
  • An understanding of basic electronics and circuit level fault finding.
  • Experience with common hand tools and soldering.
  • Familiarity with EMC, Electronics and working in an ESD environment.
  • The ability to lead multi-skilled engineering teams.
  • The ability to deliver engineering packages of work to time, cost and quality.
  • Member of a Professional Engineering Institution (e.g. IMechE, IET, INCOSE). xlqdzyr
