About The Role
We are seeking a skilled Systems Engineer specializing in Modern Workplace technologies to join our dynamic IT Managed Services team. In this pivotal role, you will focus on supporting and maintaining Microsoft 365 and endpoint management services across multiple customer environments. Your expertise will ensure that collaboration platforms, identity services, and end-user technologies operate securely, reliably, and efficiently. You will be instrumental in incident resolution, proactive service management, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop deeper technical capabilities within the Microsoft ecosystem and adjacent automation platforms, contributing significantly to the stability and security of our clients' digital workplaces. The position requires working within a 24x7 shift pattern, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, to ensure uninterrupted service delivery. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including infrastructure, network, and security engineers, to resolve complex issues and implement best practices.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration in an operational environment, with practical experience supporting Intune/Endpoint Manager and Windows device management. A solid understanding of Entra ID (Azure AD), identity controls, and access governance is essential. Candidates should have hands-on experience working within an ITIL-aligned support model, handling incident, change, and problem management processes. Strong troubleshooting skills, structured problem-solving approach, and proficiency in ITSM tools such as ServiceNow are required. Effective workload management in a shared services, multi-customer environment is crucial. Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—are necessary to maintain clear documentation and stakeholder engagement. Candidates must demonstrate a disciplined approach to documentation, knowledge sharing, and automation using PowerShell, Power Platform, or similar tools. Eligibility for UK Government Security Check (SC) clearance is mandatory.
Responsibilities
- Provide third-line operational support for Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, and Entra ID, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Administer and support Microsoft Intune and endpoint management solutions, including device compliance, configuration profiles, and application deployment to ensure secure and effective endpoint management.
- Resolve complex incidents, fulfill service requests, and implement standard changes in accordance with runbooks and ITIL best practices to maintain service continuity.
- Monitor service health, security posture, and platform alerts proactively, taking corrective actions to prevent incidents and enhance system stability.
- Support identity and access management activities, including configuring conditional access policies, multi-factor authentication, and role-based access controls to safeguard organizational assets.
- Participate in patching, policy enforcement, and configuration management across Modern Workplace services to ensure compliance and security standards are maintained.
- Utilize ServiceNow effectively for work management, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring Configuration Items are correctly reflected within the Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
- Engage in shift handovers, providing clear communication regarding risks, ongoing actions, and service status to ensure seamless support continuity.
- Identify recurring issues, inefficiencies, or gaps in documentation, taking ownership of improvement initiatives to enhance operational effectiveness.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of knowledge articles, runbooks, and operational standards to support team knowledge and best practices.
- Support automation initiatives by developing and implementing scripts and workflows using PowerShell, Power Platform, or other automation tools to increase efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, network, and security teams to resolve cross-platform issues and implement integrated solutions.
