Company Description For almost 50 years, Williams F1 Racing Team has been at the forefront of one of the fastest sports on the planet, being one of the top three most successful teams in history competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship. With an almost unrivalled heritage of engineering and racing F1 cars and unforgettable eras that demonstrate it is a force to be reckoned with, the British squad boasts 16 F1 World Championship titles to its name. Since its foundation in 1977 by the eminent, late Sir Frank Williams and engineering pioneer Sir Patrick Head, the team has won nine Constructors’ Championships, in association with Cosworth, Honda and Renault. Its roll call of drivers is legendary, with its seven Drivers’ Championship trophies being lifted by true icons of the sport: Alan Jones, Keke Rosberg, Nelson Piquet, Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, Damon Hill and Jacques Villeneuve. The team has made history before and is out to make it again with a long-term mission to evolve and return to the front of the grid. Job Description About the Role We have a new opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our world-class Technical team. This role sits at the heart of what we do - your work will directly shape the performance of our car both on track and at the factory. You will lead the specification and system-level design of our electrical and electronics systems across the car, dyno and simulator facilities, bridging technical complexity with real-world delivery, and ensuring our most critical systems perform when it matters most. What You'll Be Doing Working closely with engineers across every design group, you will play a central role in shaping how our car and test rig systems are architected, integrated, and delivered. Day to day, you can expect to: Work with stakeholders to define and document system technical and functional requirements. Design the overall structure and architecture of complex car and rig systems, ensuring components integrate effectively, including the creation of topographical diagrams to document system design. Contribute to the integration, detail design, and testing of system elements to ensure everything functions as intended. Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges during testing, development, and live use, both at the factory and at the track. Help define testing, service, and maintenance requirements throughout the systems lifecycle. Complete regular analysis to improve performance, reliability, and efficiency, and to reduce cost. What We're Looking For We are looking for a technically strong engineer who values first-principles engineering and comes with a solutions-oriented mindset and a genuine drive to solve complex problems. You will need to be comfortable working across teams at every level of the organisation, bringing structure and clarity to a fast-moving environment. To be considered, you will ideally bring: Prior experience in system-level design, or hands-on design experience with relevant system components such as harnessing, sensing devices, and data loggers. Experience in F1, Formula E or other motorsport category. Proficiency in electrical CAD wiring design software. In-depth understanding of electrical and electronic assemblies, including MIL-spec wiring harnesses and connectors. Good working knowledge of data logging equipment, sensing devices, and a range of communication protocols such as CAN and Ethernet. Strong understanding of system architecture and integration principles. Experience with Raychem harness systems, Autosport connectors, and motorsport ECU systems is highly desirable. An organised approach with the ability to clearly prioritise tasks and deliver to agreed deadlines. Additional Information #LI-KH1 Atlassian Williams F1 Team is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and inclusion. We are happy to discuss reasonable job adjustments.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
