Your Role
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will have direct responsibility for leading development activities to address complex challenges within the semiconductor industry through innovative and robust engineering solutions. The role will drive system-level definition, requirements management, technical integration, and multidisciplinary collaboration to support the development and deployment of next-generation technologies from concept through to validation, industrialisation, and implementation.
Working closely with product development, technology, applications, engineering, and programme teams, you will ensure that customer, business, and technical requirements are translated into effective system architectures and deliverable solutions. You will provide technical leadership across the product development lifecycle, facilitate trade-off decisions, manage technical risks and opportunities, and promote the adoption of systems engineering best practices to improve product performance, quality, reliability, and time-to-market.
The role also includes mentoring engineers, influencing technical strategy, and supporting the development of future technology roadmaps to maintain Edwards' leadership position in the semiconductor industry.

Your day-to-day
- Senior Systems Engineering activities across applicable projects
- Develop a strategy compliant Systems engineering – system life cycle processes and implement this strategy
- Lead elicitation and delivery of requirements from Stakeholder Needs to System Requirements, establish functional and logical diagramming, and contribute to the development of validation and verification plans
- Lead team members in Systems Engineering activities to ensure effective collaboration towards project milestones
- Drawing on experience, to offer expert advice to other engineers, including supporting the training and development of engineers
Your Skills And Experience
Education level
- Systems Engineering Degree Bachelor, Masters, PhD (desirable), or demonstrable equivalent
- Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) qualified (desirable)
Knowledge Areas/Skills
- Proven experience (5+ years) applying Systems Engineering principles and best practices within a complex engineering environment.
- Experience working in regulated, compliance-driven industries; semiconductor manufacturing equipment, vacuum, gas processing, or related sectors would be advantageous.
- Demonstrated success in implementing and embedding Systems Engineering methodologies within an organisation.
- Experience coaching, mentoring, or training engineers in Systems Engineering best practices.
- Practical experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and requirements management.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to build alignment across multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to identify and define stakeholder needs, translate them into system requirements, and develop robust system architectures and solutions.
- Experience managing system interfaces, interactions, and integration across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Working knowledge of semiconductor fabrication processes and equipment would be beneficial.

This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to split your time between working remotely and being on-site at our GTC office in Burgess Hill, UK.
