Location: Plymouth, Devon, Stoke Gifford, Bristol, or Faslane (Hybrid Working) Compensation: £54,019 - £60,429 (depending on experience) + benefits Role Type: Full-time / Permanent Role ID: SF72771
About the Role
At Babcock, we’re committed to creating a safer and more secure world. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you’ll play a critical leadership role in our Naval Nuclear programmes at our Devonport Royal Dockyard or Babcock Technology Centre sites. This position offers the opportunity to shape engineering excellence and contribute to projects of national importance, directly impacting the Royal Navy’s operational capability.
Your Responsibilities
You’ll work within our Whole Boat & Platform Systems Engineering team to:
- Lead transversal engineering projects and deliver advanced technical solutions to complex problems.
- Oversee implementation of engineering processes, governance, and capability plans to enhance operational efficiency.
- Conduct engineering investigations, producing actionable reports and recommendations.
- Manage project activities including planning, delivery, and cost control.
- Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to present solutions, progress updates, and final outcomes.

Key Requirements
Essential Experience
- Deep understanding of system technical requirements and their delivery.
- Proven track record of driving innovation to improve engineering effectiveness and efficiency.
- Extensive experience in project management, particularly in fast-paced environments, ensuring delivery within time, budget, and quality standards.
- Familiarity with commercial and subcontract processes.
- Proficiency in project management tools.
Qualifications
- A degree or Level 5 qualification in a STEM discipline (e.g., engineering, computing) or substantial relevant experience considered.
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or actively working towards it).
Security Clearance
Candidates must be:
- A sole UK National.
- Able to obtain and maintain a Security Check (SC) clearance.
