Senior Systems Engineer - Autonomous systems

Hybrid Working | Greater London 6–24 Month Contract | Potential to Convert to Permanent

An innovative technology consultancy is developing next-generation autonomous systems that combine advanced AI, robotics, and intelligent vehicle technologies to solve complex real-world challenges. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to develop scalable verification and validation infrastructure that supports the integration, testing, and deployment of complex autonomous platforms. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of systems engineering, hardware, software, and vehicle integration, contributing to technologies that are shaping the future of autonomous mobility.

The Role As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in defining, integrating, and validating complex hardware and software systems throughout the autonomous systems development lifecycle. Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will lead the design and implementation of scalable system integration and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) environments, ensuring robust, repeatable, and efficient verification processes for increasingly sophisticated autonomous technologies. You'll influence system architecture, integration strategies, and validation methodologies while driving continuous improvements to engineering infrastructure and development capability.

Key Responsibilities Lead the design and implementation of scalable hardware and systems integration platforms. Define system architectures and verification strategies for complex autonomous systems. Capture, analyse, and translate system and validation requirements into robust engineering solutions. Integrate commercial and bespoke hardware, including ECUs, FPGA platforms, DAQ hardware, communication interfaces, and sensor emulation equipment. Develop modular, configurable, and maintainable validation environments that support multiple hardware and software platforms. Drive system integration, commissioning, and continuous improvement initiatives. Lead technical investigations, system debugging, and root cause analysis across hardware and software interfaces. Collaborate with software, hardware, controls, validation, and programme teams throughout the product development lifecycle. Support the evolution of verification and validation infrastructure to meet future programme requirements. Promote engineering best practices across systems integration, validation, and test automation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
