Senior Systems Engineer – SCADA/HMI & Reporting Systems (Nuclear Infrastructure Project)

Role Overview
We are seeking a highly capable Senior Systems Engineer to support critical nuclear infrastructure projects, specialising in:
- Design, implementation, and support of AVEVA System Platform (formerly Wonderware)
- MAC Solutions ProcessVUE
- MSSQL Reporting Services
- SCADA/HMI development
- Data management & reporting systems
- Engineering documentation in highly regulated environments
The role requires technical expertise in industrial automation, strong project leadership, and adherence to stringent health, safety, and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical delivery of SCADA, Management Information, and Reporting Systems
- Design, develop, and implement solutions on AVEVA System Platform 2023, MAC Solutions ProcessVUE, and MS SQL Server Reporting Services
- Configure and manage AVEVA Historian for real-time data collection and long-term storage
- Integrate control systems with third-party equipment using standard industrial protocols
- Advise on system architecture, including redundancy, resilience, and cybersecurity considerations
- Produce engineering documentation, including:
- Design specifications
- Test procedures
- Operating and maintenance manuals Maintain/update existing technical documentation as required
- Deploy and test SCADA systems via FACTORY (FAT) and CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE TESTING (CAT)
- Support project lifecycle activities and collaborate with the Project Manager, Lead Engineer, and Engineering Team
- Assist in planning and execution of technical activities
- Provide clear progress reporting and risk mitigation
- Demonstrate health and safety leadership through effective practice

Essential Requirements
- 5+ years’ experience in industrial automation and control systems, including:
- AVEVA System Platform (replace with "formerly Wonderware")
- AVEVA OMI (formerly InTouch OMI)
- AVEVA Historian
- Microsoft SQL Server
- SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
- Proven track record in designing, implementing, and testing SCADA solutions in industrial environments
- Experience in development of management information and reporting systems within industrial or engineering contexts
- Strong background in SCADA/HMI system design and implementation
- Demonstrated ability to produce and manage large-scale engineering documentation
- Adherence to quality standards and systems engineering methodologies
- Understanding of software/system lifecycle processes (design → development → testing → deployment)
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills

Desirable Skills & Experience
- Familiarity with MAC Solutions ProcessVUE (or ability to adapt quickly)
- Experience in nuclear, defence, or other highly regulated industries
- Scripting/programming knowledge (e.g., PowerShell, .NET)
- Experience with enterprise data/reporting integration
Qualifications & Personal Attributes
- Degree/HND/HNC in Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent formal/industrial experience
- Analytical mind: High attention to detail, strong commitment to quality and precision
- Stable ability to manage complex systems and bulk documentation
- Proactive, methodical mindset with a solution-oriented approach
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- Effective team collaborator, with ability to work independently yet autonomously
