Senior Systems Engineer – SCADA & Reporting Systems
Location: Strategic industrial hubs Employer: Bilfinger UK
About the Role
Bilfinger UK is a leading engineering and maintenance provider, supporting customers across chemical, petrochemical, nuclear, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals, power, utilities, renewables, and food & beverage markets. Specialising in asset management throughout all life cycle phases—consulting, engineering, manufacturing, assembly, operations, maintenance, and decommissioning—Bilfinger ensures high availability, efficiency, and cost reduction.
We are seeking a highly capable Senior Systems Engineer to deliver critical SCADA/HMI, data management, and reporting solutions across a nuclear infrastructure project. The role focuses on design, implementation, and support of AVEVA System Platform, MAC Solutions ProcessVUE, and MSSQL Reporting Services.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Lead for SCADA, Management Information, and Reporting Systems: Oversee end-to-end delivery.
- Solution Design & Implementation:
- Develop and implement AVEVA System Platform 2023, MAC Solutions ProcessVUE, and MSSQL Reporting Services.
- Configure AVEVA Historian for real-time data collection and long-term storage.
- Integrate control systems with third-party equipment using industrial protocols (e.g., OPC, Modbus, Profibus).
- System Architecture & Security:
- Design for redundancy, resilience, and cybersecurity.
- Ensure compliance with nuclear industry standards.
- Documentation & Compliance:
- Produce large-scale engineering documentation (design specs, test procedures, O&M manuals).
- Maintain and update existing documentation.
- Testing & Deployment:
- Lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Customer Acceptance Testing (CAT).
- Project Collaboration:
- Work closely with Project Manager, Lead Engineer, and engineering teams to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery.
- Provide progress reports and risk/blocker analysis.
- Health & Safety Leadership: Uphold safety standards by example.

Essential Requirements
- 5+ years’ experience in industrial automation and control systems, including:
- AVEVA System Platform (formerly Wonderware)
- AVEVA OMI (InTouch OMI), AVEVA Historian
- Microsoft SQL Server & SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
- Proven expertise in SCADA/HMI design, implementation, and testing within industrial environments.
- Experience with management information and reporting systems in engineering settings.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent verbal/written communication.
- Qualifications: Degree/HND/HNC in Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Experience managing large volumes of technical documentation in regulated industries.

Desirable Skills & Experience
- MAC Solutions ProcessVUE (or ability to learn quickly).
- Nuclear, defence, or heavily regulated industry experience.
- Scripting/programming (PowerShell, .NET, Python, etc.).
- Enterprise data integration experience.
