The Incubator for Artificial Intelligence (i.AI) is the UK government’s engine room for building AI-driven products that shape national outcomes. Backed by No.10, our team solves the hardest problems in government—launching innovations at start-up speed while transforming how AI is adopted in public service.

The Mission of the Talent Team

This isn’t routine civil service recruitment. You’ll be hiring elite talent—some of the UK’s top researchers, engineers, AI leaders, and policymakers—into one of the most ambitious teams in UK government.

You’ll operate in a hyper-competitive market, where speed, quality, and candidate experience determine whether you land them or lose them to cutting-edge labs or tech startups. This requires sharp decisive vision, proactive grit, and passion for our mission: using AI for societal good.

You will be a trusted advisor to i.AI’s hiring teams, steering attraction strategies, assessment design, and candidate experience—ensuring excellence at every touchpoint.

Key Responsibilities

Full Cycle Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Lead end-to-end hiring campaigns from role scoping to candidate onboard.
  • Deliver exceptional candidate journeys, ensuring each experience is seamless.
  • Design and execute assessments tailored to attract world-class talent.
  • Be the go-to partner for candidates and hiring managers—guiding them with confidence.

Expert Coordination & Multi-Stakeholder Delivery

  • Manage multiple vacancies simultaneously, juggling tight deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Coordinate effectively across diverse stakeholders (leaders, AI experts, novices) to streamline timelines.
  • Learn to prioritise under pressure while keeping all parties engaged—midstream adjustments are constant.

Process Improvement & Escalation

  • Identify gaps in talent attraction and assessment, proposing scalable enhancements.
  • Escalate complex or contentious cases with discerning judgement.
  • Drive ongoing service optimisation—always looking for ways to make i.AI stand out.

Competitive Remuneration

  • Base Salary: £47,355
  • Government Pension Contribution: £13,718 in employer funding for the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension Scheme.
