Job Description – Senior Team Manager, Financial Crime Operations
End Date: Sunday 12 July 2026 Salary: £67,023 – £74,470 per annum

Financial Crime Operations (FCO) ensures the safety of the bank and its customers from financial crime by:
- Investigating suspicious activity reports to determine National Crime Agency (NCA) disclosure needs.
- Performing customer relationship reviews.
- Delivering high-quality intelligence and data-driven risk management to reduce harm to communities.
This Senior Team Manager will plan, direct, and control operational resources to meet performance and service standards within budget while proactively mitigating financial crime risks.
Job Summary
The Financial Crime Operations (FCO) function plays a critical role in safeguarding both the bank and its customers. The successful candidate will:
- Lead multiple teams and functions to ensure delivery performance aligns with regulatory expectations and risk frameworks.
- Partner with senior stakeholders, operational leaders, and specialist teams.
- Drive performance improvements, implement change, and ensure compliance-driven outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Lead and manage day-to-day operations, ensuring alignment with service standards and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee complex teams across core operations, operational resilience, and control functions.
- Ensure strategies adhere to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and financial crime regulatory obligations.

Performance & Risk Management
- Drive performance across quality, cost, and delivery metrics.
- Identify operational risks, ensuring robust controls are in place.
- Use Management Information (MI) and Quality Assurance (QA) data to:
- Spot trends.
- Address capability gaps.
- Drive continuous improvement.
Change & Development
- Plan and prioritise resources for both current and future needs.
- Manage operational delivery of change, acting as a key contact for implementation.
- Support budget ownership while meeting forecast targets.
Team Leadership & Culture
- Lead, motivate, and develop Team Managers and teams.
- Focus on engagement, continuous improvement, and customer-centric actions.
- Support the Head of Function in critical decision-making forums.
Collaboration & Recruitment
- Build and maintain relationships with cross-business stakeholders.
- Oversee end-to-end recruitment, development, and talent capability.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- 4–6 years of experience leading Financial Crime, Risk, or regulated operational environments.
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams through Team Managers.
- Strong track record in delivering against performance, quality, and cost targets.
- In-depth knowledge of financial crime regulation, risk frameworks, and operational controls.
- Experience managing operational change within complex environments.
- Excellent communication skills with senior stakeholders and influence capabilities.
- Ability to interpret data, MI, and insights to drive meaningful operational changes.

Desirable Skills
- Leadership of large-scale or multi-team Financial Crime operations.
- Background in business planning, forecasting, and resource management.
- Exposure to governance, audit, or control frameworks.
- Experience supporting or leading transformation or continuous improvement initiatives.
