Senior Technical Analyst – Software Engineering (Data Platform)
Location: London (Hybrid)
Contract: 6-12 Months
I am supporting a major media and technology organisation who need an experienced Senior Technical Analyst to bridge the gap between business and engineering, helping deliver innovative data products and platform capabilities across a modern cloud-based data ecosystem.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong blend of business analysis, technical analysis and data expertise who enjoys working in Agile environments and collaborating with engineering, product and delivery teams.
The Role
As a Senior Technical Analyst, you'll play a key role in defining and refining platform capabilities, ensuring engineering teams have clear, well-defined requirements to deliver high-quality solutions.
You'll work closely with Product Managers, Technical Analysts and Software Engineers to shape product vision, facilitate backlog refinement, analyse complex datasets and support the delivery of scalable cloud-based data products.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead requirements gathering, analysis and feature definition for engineering delivery teams.
- Facilitate backlog refinement sessions, ensuring features are broken down into clear user stories with robust acceptance criteria.
- Support PI Planning and collaborate with Product Owners and Delivery Managers on roadmap planning.
- Analyse, interpret and map complex datasets to support platform enhancements.
- Identify capability gaps and recommend improvements across existing data products.
- Work closely with engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Help align product vision across multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Ensure consistent Agile delivery practices across Scrum and Kanban teams.
Skills/Experience:
- Previous experience as a Technical Analyst or Business Analyst within Agile software delivery environments.
- Strong experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria and defining Definition of Done.
- Excellent knowledge of relational data models, data warehousing and analytics platforms.
- Experience working on data migration, ETL/ELT or modern data platform projects.
- Strong SQL skills and experience analysing complex datasets.
- Experience working with both relational and non-relational databases.
- The ability to document complex business rules, transformations and data logic.
- Understanding of data governance, security and GDPR principles.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
