Job Title: Senior Technical Artist
Team: Art & Animation
Reporting into: Lead Artist
Working Model: Hybrid 2-3 days per week in studio
Location: Here East, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London, E15 2GW
Position Overview
We are looking for a Senior Technical Artist to join the Art & Animation team at Sports Interactive.
This role focuses on driving technical excellence across the Art & Animation department by improving workflows, developing scalable solutions, and supporting the creation of high-quality visuals and content pipelines.
We are looking for someone with broad Technical Art experience who enjoys solving complex problems, collaborating across disciplines, and helping teams work more efficiently while maintaining a high visual standard.
The ideal candidate will act as a bridge between Art and Engineering, helping shape workflows, improve pipelines, mentor others, and drive technical improvements that have impact across the wider project.
Key Responsibilities
A Senior Technical Artist is responsible for identifying and solving complex technical challenges across the Art & Animation team while improving production workflows, graphical quality, and overall development efficiency. They work within artistic and technical constraints to build scalable and maintainable solutions that support the project’s long-term goals.
Senior Technical Artists work closely with Artists, Animators, Graphics Programmers, Engineers, Technical Directors, and Production to improve pipelines, optimize content, and support successful delivery across multiple disciplines.
Responsibilities Include
- Driving improvements across content pipelines, workflows, tools, and technical processes.
- Developing and maintaining scalable technical solutions that improve efficiency and quality.
- Supporting shader development, rendering workflows, procedural systems, and runtime implementation.
- Identifying performance bottlenecks and proposing practical optimization solutions.
- Collaborating with Graphics and Engineering teams to align artistic goals with technical constraints.
- Supporting the development of tools, automation, and pipeline improvements across A&A.
- Providing technical guidance and mentorship to Technical Artists and adjacent disciplines.
- Supporting sprint planning, retrospectives, and cross-discipline delivery discussions.
- Helping define and maintain Technical Art standards and best practices.
- Clearly communicating technical concepts and workflows to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
We are looking for someone with strong Technical Art fundamentals and experience operating across multiple technical areas while helping drive quality, scalability, and collaboration across the team.
- Has advanced experience in more than one Technical Art areas such as shaders, rendering, procedural workflows, scripting, optimization, VFX, rigging, animation, tools, or content pipelines.
- Has Unity Experience.
- Enjoys solving technical problems and improving production workflows at both team and project scale.
- Understands how to balance visual quality, technical limitations, usability, and runtime performance.
- Has experience building maintainable and scalable workflows rather than one-off solutions.
- Communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical disciplines.
- Collaborates effectively across Art, Animation, Graphics, Engineering, and Production teams.
- Is organized, self-driven, and capable of managing complex technical initiatives independently.
