Senior Technical Artist

Fenris Creations London – Senior Technical Artist (TA) Positions

We are Fenris Creations London, a dynamic studio creating EVE Vanguard, a brand-new sci-fi sandbox FPS game. Our mission is to deliver an immersive sandbox experience with stunning visuals, intuitive gameplay, and ground-breaking connections to the EVE Online ecosystem—fuelled by direct player feedback.


About the Role

As a Senior Technical Artist, you’ll play a critical role in shaping and optimising our world-building pipelines, driving efficiency, quality, and collaboration across Level Design, Environment Art, Game Design, Rendering, and Engineering.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing modular, scalable workflows that enhance high-quality environment creation while ensuring technical consistency and artistic coherence.
  • Staying ahead of latest Unreal Engine advancements, including EPIC Forums tech, and ensuring work aligns with future updates.
  • Supporting Level Designers and Artists through on-demand tool development, procedural solutions, and workflow refinements.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for world-building pipelines, troubleshooting blockers, and fostering iterative improvement.
  • Documenting and mentoring best practices in tool integration (SemOrg, Sequencer), mod-mbling, performance tuning, and modular kits.
  • Collaborating closely with Rendering, Engineering, and Design teams to ensure gameplay experiences are both compelling and performant.

Key Responsibilities

Your day-to-day will involve:

  • Developing and evolving world-building workflows in close collaboration with Level Design, Environment Art, Gameplay Engineering, Rendering, and Devteams.
  • Scaling efficiency through modular workflows for high-quality, efficient environment creation (including procedural solutions for terrain, foliage, asset placement, environmental dressing).
  • Designing and maintaining custom tools for Level Designers and Artists, prioritising user experience.
  • Implementing performance optimisations for real-time rendering while avoiding student developer scheduling while meeting visual standards.
  • Guaranteeing modular content pipelines align with Design and Gameplay Engineering needs.
  • Troubleshooting workflows and mentoring both junior technical artists and technical leaders, fostering knowledge-sharing.
  • Documenting best practices including:
    • Environmental Asset Definition
    • Blueprints-and-Animation-Engine Modular Structures
    • Performance optimization techniques
    • Naming Conventions
    • Scalable Level Design Strategies

Your Profile

We’re seeking a senior-level Technical Artist with deep expertise in:

Technical Skills

✔ 5+ years as a Technical Artist, Technical Environment Artist, or Level Designer, under undertaken roles in a game studio. ✔ Fluency in Unreal Engine 5, with hands-on experience in world-building and Content Pipeline Automation. ✔ Advanced mastery of Blueprints (UE4 and UE5). ✔ Strong C++ experience in UE4/5, including plugin development for Modular Portals & UserToolShed Systems. ✔ Uniquely effective understanding of real-time rendering and performance optimization, targeting smooth experience on multiple platforms. ✔ Extensive experience with terrain mesh hierarchies, tessellation shaders, occlusion culling, and virtual textures, supporting large open scales efficiently. ✔ Deep familiarity with asset-based procedural generation (grass, foliage, building systems). ✔ Force contribution in packaging pipelines, Lighting & Post-Processing iteration, and UE-specific memory optimisation. ✔ Experience collaborating with engine programmers, lightning artists, and gameplay programmers in iterative sprint refinement.

Creative & Artistic Eye

✔ Exceptional ability to compose appealing environments using PBR, marine materials, VFX, and material functionvolgements. ✔ Experience with modular kit programming, UTD Network and UE5’s templated approaches. ✔ Ability to interpret core concepts/art direction from vague style sheet into deployment-ready content. ✔ Hands-down experience overseeing small group of environment designers and integration of concepts into UE’s world building inspector. ✔ Passion in level design principles, storytelling, ** espionager design**, and sandbox structure blocks.
