Full Time, Permanent
Band 3 / Competitive Salary (dependent on experience)
Here at Serco, we’re looking for a Senior Technical Business Analyst to join our Digital Portfolio & Delivery Practice. This is a strategically important role for an experienced professional who thrives on business transformation, enterprise technology, and delivery excellence.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering scalable digital solutions across complex environments, ensuring that strategic intent is translated into robust, testable, and value-driven outcomes.
As one of several SMEs, you’ll partner closely with business stakeholders, architects, engineers, product teams, and delivery partners to translate business strategy into actionable requirements and technical solutions. You will own the journey from problem identification through to solution delivery - ensuring that what is designed is ultimately delivered, adopted, and achieves measurable business value.
This is not simply a requirements-gathering role. We are looking for someone who can lead discovery, shape solutions, challenge assumptions, drive alignment, and maintain delivery integrity throughout the lifecycle.
As part of this you’ll:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to elicit, document, validate, and manage business and technical requirements.
- Translate business needs into user stories, functional specifications, acceptance criteria, workflows, and process models.
- Conduct discovery workshops, stakeholder interviews, and alignment sessions to define outcomes, priorities, and delivery approaches.
- Perform gap analysis, feasibility assessments, and impact analysis for proposed changes and initiatives.
- Maintain rigorous requirement traceability to ensure all deliverables align to validated business outcomes.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including planning, execution, defect management, and validation activities.
- Operate effectively within Agile delivery environments and complex matrix organisations.
- Participate fully in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Work closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, architects, engineers, and delivery teams to support iterative delivery.
- Contribute actively to the Business Analysis capability practice, supporting standards, frameworks, governance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Communicate complex technical concepts and strategic options clearly and confidently to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Lead stakeholder workshops and alignment sessions, balancing competing priorities and building consensus across business and technology teams.
- Drive initiatives proactively through the delivery lifecycle, removing blockers and maintaining delivery momentum.
- Support vendor and partner engagements to ensure clarity of scope, requirements, delivery expectations, and outcomes.
- Contribute to management reporting, KPI tracking, and capability performance objectives.
- Provide line management responsibilities where required.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, cybersecurity, data privacy, and internal control requirements.
- Support business readiness, change management, communications, and successful adoption of delivered solutions.
- Champion data-driven decision-making through effective use of analytics, reporting, and insight-led approaches.
- Drive targets to achieve long-term objectives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
