About the Role
As WSP’s Cyber Security Consultant, you’ll play a critical part in our industry-leading Cyber Security Capability team, delivering specialist services across a range of sectors with a focus on Operational Technology (OT) Cybersecurity.
As a key member, you’ll leverage your expertise to advise clients on compliance frameworks (e.g., NIS-D, NIST, ISO 27001, ISA/IEC 62443), design governance frameworks, conduct threat modelling, and support digital transformation projects. You’ll collaborate closely with clients, IT/OT engineering teams, and government partners to architect secure, future-proof solutions.
Key Responsibilities
You will drive WSP’s cyber security deliverables throughout project lifecycles, including:

Strategic Advisory & Requirements Tailoring
- Guide clients on cyber security standards tailored to their needs, supporting NIS-D compliance and industry best practices.
- Translate business objectives into actionable security strategies and architectural recommendations.

Architecture & Risk Management
- Analyse engineering and solution designs for vulnerabilities, advise on cyber resilience, and conduct Threat & Risk Assessments.
- Specify requirements and test cyber security conformance across IT/OT landscapes and cloud-based deployments.

Governance & Systems Convening
- Develop Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) and OT Cybersecurity governance frameworks aligned with regulatory and industry guidelines.

Solution Innovation & Client Delivery
- Propose and define new operational technology security services to expand WSP’s cyber portfolio.
- Deliver face-to-face and bespoke proposals with the sales team to shape client engagement and project scope.

Team Leadership & Capacity Building
- Mentor junior cyber security team members in complex client engagements.
- Contribute to WSP’s technical filings, reports, and case studies to advance thought leadership.

Collaborative Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with clients, regulators, supply chains, and suppliers to identify, design, and implement secure solutions in critical infrastructures (e.g., Office Glyndŵr, healthcare, energy, rail).
- Present cyber security services to clients and propose tailored pathways to digital resilience challenges.

What We’re Looking For
Essential Competencies
You should demonstrate expertise in:

Operational/Industrial Security (OT) or Embedded Systems with a technical consultancy background, combined with hands-on experience in:
- Government frameworks (e.g., POSC CAFS, CFN-PUB 008, ISA/IEC 62443)
- Impacts of IoT/IIoT on critical systems and hybrid cloud architectures

Project Risk Assessment methodologies (e.g., ITIL, V-Model, Agile securities-by-design) to align with WSP’s operational teams.

Domain-Specific Industry Insight – Preferably bearing experience in one or more areas:
- Energy (nuclear, oil/gas, electricity, nuclear waste)
- Rail, road or aviation infrastructure
- Maritime, smart buildings (IoT enabling), or vis-a-vis cyber-physical mission-critical systems

Strong analytical mindset and ability to effectively bridge gaps between technical, compliance and business stakeholders in security environments.
