About the Role
As one of the world’s leading engineering, professional services, and technical consultancy firms, WSP is passionate about tackling the big questions and delivering impactful answers. Our new digital strategy has identified Operational Technology (OT) Cybersecurity as a key area for growth, and we are seeking a Cyber Security Consultant to join our specialist team.
This role involves providing cyber security advice, technical assurance, and solution guidance to a diverse range of clients across multiple industries. You will support domestic and international clients in implementing robust cyber security strategies while contributing to the continued growth of WSP’s cyber security capability.
Key Responsibilities
Core Duties
- Provide technical consultancy in alignment with client needs, leading WSP’s cyber security deliverables across OT/IT development and digital transformation projects.
- Offer strategic advice across our client spectrum, supporting digital resilience efforts.
- Join a talented team delivering specialist cyber security services to industries such as Energy (Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Electricity), Rail, Healthcare, Smart Infrastructure, Aviation, and Maritime.
Key Activities
Your role will involve:
- Advising clients on cyber security compliance, including NIS-D, NIST, ISO 27001, ISA/IEC 62443, and industry best practices.
- Developing governance frameworks and CYBER/Security Management Systems.
- Analysing cyber security controls, reviewing architectural proposals, and conducting threat & risk assessments.
- Tailoring CYBER security requirements to meet client needs.
- Translating business and technical requirements into actionable solutions.
- Collaborating with clients, government agencies, partners, and supply chain stakeholders to solve complex security challenges.
- Supporting the delivery of best-practice cyber security across multiple projects.
- Presenting WSP’s cyber security services, reinforcing digital resilience strategies for clients.

Requirements & Qualifications
Essential Criteria
- A degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent industry experience).
- Practical experience in CYBER security, OT, Integration, or Systems Engineering, preferably in a consultancy or supplier environment.
- Team leadership skills, including experience in mentoring junior professionals and supporting their career development.
- Demonstratable knowledge of cyber security frameworks, e.g., ISA/IEC 62443, NIST, ISO 27001, NCSC’s CAF, and governmental requirements.
- Strong client-facing communications, including written & verbal skills in consultancy, pre-sales, or security engineering.
- Focused growth mindset—able to define new cyber security services and offers to align with client needs.
Desired Experience
- Hands-on experience with:
- OT/IT/IoT/IIoT cyber security
- Industry-specific applied security (Energy, Nuclear, Oil/Gas, Rail, Healthcare, Smart Buildings, Aviation, or Maritime).
- Telecoms, SCADA, mission-critical, safety-critical, or big data architectures.
- Threat modelling, vulnerability analysis, risk matrix modelling.
- Secure DevOps and secure systems engineering lifecycle.
- Cloud security (especially OT in the cloud).
- Incident management, digital forensics, crisis management, SOC operations, and related tools (IDS/IPS, SIEM, EDR/MDR).

Technical/Expertise Requirements
- Experience in risk assessment methodologies for systems/software development, combining Agile, ITIL, and V-model processes.
- Capacity to author technical reports, conduct security framework audits (e.g., ISA/IEC 62443, NCSC), and design OT solutions from a security perspective.
- Exposure to professional registration frameworks such as Chartership in Engineering or Cyber Security.
