Senior Technical Lead

We're looking for an outstanding Tech Lead, who wants to contribute to demanding and exciting digital services for the UK Government.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?
- Significant experience designing and delivering secure, cloud-based solutions (AWS and/or Azure) in large-scale enterprise or government environments.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and navigate complex organisations to drive technical, service, and strategic improvements.
- Strong DevOps expertise, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform), automation, and improving observability and live service support.
- Experience providing technical leadership for the design and delivery of technology solutions, ensuring alignment with architecture standards, security requirements, governance processes, and organisational objectives.
- Experience of leading and supporting Engineers in multi-disciplinary teams in an agile environment and sharing knowledge and good practice with the wider organisation.
- Experience delivering technology change on enterprise platforms that improves user experience, service quality, and business outcomes.

You and your role
As a Senior Technical Lead, you'll shape the technical direction of large-scale cloud platforms and services, working with Product and Delivery teams to solve complex challenges and deliver better outcomes for users.
You'll provide technical leadership across engineering teams, driving modern ways of working through DevOps, automation and cloud technologies. You'll help teams build secure, resilient services while improving performance, reliability and operational excellence.
You will also influence senior stakeholders, support architectural decisions, and develop engineering capability through coaching and mentoring. Working across product, security, infrastructure and operations teams, you'll help ensure services are scalable, compliant and ready for the future.

Location
You'll join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs in Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield, whichever is most convenient for you.
Hybrid Working
We work a hybrid model - you'll spend some time working at home and some time collaborating face to face in a hub.
Pay
We offer competitive pay of up to £92,522.
Pension
You'll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, worth over £21,000 per year.
