About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Technical Manager to lead Huel’s global RTD (Ready-to-Drink) technical function. This senior position plays a central role in one of our fastest-expanding categories, covering everything from manufacturing governance to team development across the UK, EU, and US.
Role Responsibilities
-
Strategic Leadership:
- Define and lead the global RTD technical strategy, encompassing process standards, quality assurance, and co-manufacturer capability.
- Oversee process documentation, quality standards, and capacity planning aligned to Huel’s rapid growth.
-
Team Management:
- Line manage RTD Technical Managers and Process Technologists, ensuring clear role ownership and development in process expertise, root cause analysis (RCA), and technical influence.
- Build strong cross-team alignment across the UK, EU, and US, ensuring consistent process standards and risk mitigation frameworks.
-
Technical Governance:
- Set and enforce RTD technical standards across all co-manufacturers, driving consistency in operations.
- Own the escalation pathway for critical errors, incidents, or regulatory risks, ensuring robust root cause analysis and systemic resolutions.
- Maintain the RTD technical risk register and lead responses to major quality or food safety incidents.
-
Supplier & Scaling Strategy:
- Drive new co-manufacturer onboarding, assessing process readiness, capability gaps, and risk compliance before engagement.
- Review long-term scalability of co-manufacturers for new production techniques or SKUs.
- Develop continuous improvement (CI) plans and Cost Per Man-Unit (CPMU) reduction strategies.
-
Product Development Support:
- Serve as the primary technical lead for New Product Development (NPD) and Existing Product Development (EPD) in RTD space.
- Proactively flag quality and safety risks pre-launch, supervising the scale-up process to launch review.
- Translate technical findings clearly into business impact, including supply chain efficiency, risk protocols, and commercial risks.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
