Senior Technical Officer, Environmental Knowledge (Climate Change) – London (FTC Maternity Cover, 14-Month Contract)


Salary & Engagement

  • Compensation: £32,157 – £40,197 per year (fixed-term contract for maternity leave cover)
  • Holidays: 30 days + bank holidays
  • Work Arrangement: Permanent role at CDP’s London office; in-office required 2 days per week. Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the UK and live within commutable distance.

About the Team: Disclosure Content & Environmental Knowledge

The Disclosure Content team leads development, sta Bilisation, and delivery of CDP’s disclosure framework, including:

  • Question bank (focused, granular queries)
  • Reporting guidance (end-user support)
  • Scoring methodologies (risk and impact benchmarking)

The Environmental Knowledge subgroup is responsible for:

  • Question bank content (mapping standards, validation tests)
  • Governance (e.g., emissions data, climate risks)
  • Translations & technical policy alignment
  • Internal technical support on emerging frameworks.

Core partners within CDP: Scoring, Thought Leadership, Data, and Customer Success teams.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Operational Delivery

  • Drive at least one process (e.g., preparation, drafting, testing) or content area (e.g., governance-related questions in Module 4).
  • Drive school of scoring quality, administration, authorsing, and publication of the question bank.

Content Development & Testing

  • Design, implement, and refine question bank metrics/scoring related to climate change, governance, یا pollution.
  • Draft/translate questions and guidance; ensure accuracy and consistency with frameworks like TCFD/CSRD.

Research & Analytical Support

  • Analyse corporate disclosure data and conduct desktop reviews to inform content improvements.
  • Support funded projects, white papers, Manged Engagements, and strategy reports in high-impact areas.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Internal: Collaborate with Technical Operations, Product Teams, and Global Managers.
  • External: Engage with disclosing organisations, regulators, NGOs, frameworks/authors, and data users.

Dialogue & Communication

  • Present technical findings internally (e.g., 1:1s, team meetings, governance documentation).
  • Refine complex ideas for clarity and conciseness in presentations/documentation.

Professional Growth & Team Culture

  • Set clear performance objectives via regular 1:1s, goal-setting, and feedback.
  • Champion inclusiveness by fostering transparency, feedback sharing, and cultural awareness.

What We Need from You

Qualifications & Experience

  • Formal degree in environment-science-related field (e.g., resource management, pollution control, policy*).
  • Demonstrable experience in climate change or corporate environmental disclosure.

Technical Proficiency

  • Expertise in capturing enterprise-level data (e.g., timelines, risks, inventories).
  • Aware of standards/guidelines (TCFD, CSRD, ISO, SBT).
  • Understanding of sustainability trends, risks, and changing regulatory landscapes.

Skill-Specific Requirements

✔Process Improvement: Optimising operational workflows and data-driven decisions. ✔Analytical Expertise: Interpreting qualitative and quantitative submission data. ✔Research & Reporting: High-volume document analysis and writing clear reports.
