Location: Tunbridge Wells – Hybrid (3 days office / 2 days home)
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: Competitive + Excellent Benefits Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Mon–Fri)

Now, we’re seeking an experienced Senior Technical Personal Injury Claims Handler to join our Large Loss Team.
This role offers the opportunity to: ✔ Manage some of the most complex and high-value injury claims in the portfolio. ✔ Drive technical excellence across the wider business. ✔ Work with life-changing and catastrophic injuries featuring significant financial exposure.
The Team: Large Loss Knowledge
Our Large Loss Team specialises in handling complex, high-value motor injury claims, including serious and catastrophic injuries with exceptional liability, causation and indemnity challenges.
As the Senior Technical Personal Injury Claims Handler, you’ll:
- lead a portfolio of serious injury claims involving deep technical intricacies in liability, causation, quantum and indemnity.
- collaborate closely with solicitors, counsel, medical experts, reinsurers and rehabilitation providers to achieve fair and commercially sound settlements for our customers.
- provide technical guidance across Personal Injury, contributing to the evolution of the Large Loss proposition.

Core Responsibilities
Claims Management & Strategy
- Manage a portfolio of complex high-value personal injury claims, from notification to settlement.
- Investigate and assess organic principles: liability, causation & quantum, to optimise outcomes.
- Develop and execute Claims Management Strategies, balancing customer fair outcomes with commercial sensitivity.
- Conduct negotiations on high-value and litigated claims, ensuring decisive settlements.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Manage relationships with panel solicitors, counsel, medical experts and rehabilitation providers.
- Oversee advocacy for reinsurer-reportable claims, ensuring transparent monitoring and communication.
Technical Expertise & Leadership
- Provide technical guidance for complex claims referred from other Personal Injury teams.
- Monitor legal & claims market trends, collaborate to share best practice and drive operational efficiency.
- Advise on departmental initiatives, ensuring alignment with customer outcomes & cost management.
Regulatory & Customer Compliance
- Deliver exceptional service, ensuring claims are handled ethically and in accordance with regulatory standards.
Key Requirements
Essential Criteria
- Proven experience handling complex personal injury claims, including multi-track litigation.
- Strong background in claims exceeding £100,000, including serious injury & large loss exposure.
- Deep technical knowledge of liability, causation, quantum and indemnity.
- Direct experience with claimant & defendant solicitors, medical experts and barristers.
- Negotiation prowess and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercial acumen, capable of making balanced, evidence-driven decisions.
- Track record of delivering high-value outcomes while controlling indemnity spending.
- Strong time management and ability to concurrently handle a demanding caseload.

- Familiarity with:
- Credit hire processes.
- Fraud & investigation indicators.
- RTA (Motor accidents) & Article 75 implications.
- Rehabilitation Code principles.
- Reinsurance reporting frameworks.
