Senior Technician
Senior Technician – Infrastructure Team – SOCOTEC
About the Role
SOCOTEC’s Infrastructure team delivers essential technical services that ensure the safety, quality, and compliance of major construction and civil engineering projects across the UK. Our services include:
- Independent construction materials testing (verifying strength, durability, and performance of key materials)
- Foundations and pile testing to confirm ground stability
- Specialist structures and pavements assessment
- Integrated geotechnical and structural monitoring (providing real-time data throughout project lifecycles)

Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Technician, you’ll play a vital role in supporting SOCOTEC’s continued success within our Infrastructure division. Key tasks include:
- Leading and undertaking product performance and site testing
- Conducting building static load tests and installing instrumentation
- Ensuring timely completion of technical work with accurate reporting of results
- Physically testing piled foundations at client sites (involves manual handling of test equipment)
- Working outdoors on construction sites in all weather conditions
- Setting up testing equipment and methodologies in line with agreed Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
- Analysing and interpreting basic data
- Completing site and test sheets
- Adhering to company QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, Environment) protocols
- Delivering high customer service ethic with a passion for meeting and exceeding customer expectations

RequirementsQualifications
To excel as a Senior Technician, you must demonstrate:

- Previous experience in a similar role (preferably foundations testing)
- Full manual UK driving licence (essential for site availability)
- CSCS card or CPCS Slinger/Signaller (desirable but can be facilitated)
- Excellent practical and communication skills
Slight adaptations required: Travel will be frequent to clients, with an expectation of overnight stays.
