Position Title: Senior Technician (BCAST)
Department/College: Technical Services
Location: Brunel University London, Uxbridge Campus
Salary: Grade 6 from: £34,588 to £ 39,144 inclusive of London Weighting with potential to progress to £43,265 per annum, inclusive of London Weighting, through sustained exceptional contribution (pro-rata if part-time).
Hours: Full-time

We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Senior Technician to join the Technical Services team at the Brunel Centre for Advanced Solidification Technology (BCAST), supporting world-class research in solidification science and metallurgical engineering. In this role, you will provide expert technical support to laboratories, researchers, and students, ensuring safe and effective delivery of research programmes while contributing to the development of innovative and sustainable technologies.

You will bring previous experience in mechanical engineering, machining, machine assembly, welding, along with a solid understanding of electrical systems, PLCs, and control systems. Practical expertise in metal casting processes, including the safe handling of molten metals, would be an advantage.
The role involves supporting industrial casting trials, prototyping new technologies, maintaining and improving laboratory equipment and processes. You will develop SOPs and provide technical guidance, all within a collaborative, internationally recognised research environment equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
