Senior Technologist, PD - Castrol

Technologist – Product Development

Job Family Group: Research & Technology

About the Organisation & the Role

Within the Castrol organisation, joining this role places you in the ring-fence—meaning your employment will transition with Castrol to new ownership if this occurs.

Our purpose at bp is to deliver energy to the world, today and tomorrow through discovering, developing, and producing oil and gas sustainably. We offer an integrated energy solution to global governments and customers.

This Technologist position is part of Castro’s Castrol Product Development team, where you’ll be immersed in developing new lubricants for market deployment, contributing to high-profile projects and global stakeholder engagement. You’ll work autonomously while collaborating across functional teams and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Execution: Lead or participate in development and test programmes to deliver new lubricant products to market, giving attention to feasibility, timelines, and budgets.
  • Budget Management: Oversee budgets of $50K to $1M, ensuring cost accuracy and transparent forecasting.
  • Networking: Drive effective internal and external partnerships, including:
    • Product testing, deployment, quality, stewardship, intellectual assets, and research & innovation teams.
    • Supppliers, OEMs, technical consultancies, Castrol marketing, and Legal teams.
  • Communication: Regular briefings with project stakeholders to monitor progress, set milestones, and improve delivery.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Develop and disseminate expertise to enhance continuous improvement within the Product Development team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
