Successful candidate will be comfortable engaging with stakeholders at a senior level and ensuring both QIP and QFP business segments and the technology teams are fully aligned. This role will support the Head of Business Technology in the following key areas:
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and users to understand their needs and requirements and provide effective and innovative technology solutions that meet or exceed their expectations.
- Communicate and align technology strategy and roadmap with business strategy and vision, ensuring that technology solutions are aligned with business requirements and expectations, thus contributing to good customer outcomes.
- Assist with management of the budget and resources for the Business Technology function and optimise the return on investment and value for money.
- Support the coordination, prioritisation, and visibility of the portfolio of technology projects and initiatives for the business units, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget, and with quality.
- Ensure the quality, reliability, security, and performance of the business applications, and adhere to the best practices and standards for software development and delivery.
- Through utilising best practices this role will ensure technology change is effectively defined, planned, resourced, and delivered in alignment with the overall business unit / function technology strategy.
- It will be critical to ensure roadmaps and service delivery is aligned to and delivered in accordance with Quilter policy and standards, and community of practice guidelines.
- This role will assist in developing the team’s capability and ensure the appropriate balance of skills and expertise to achieve sustainable business performance while actively enabling collaboration across Quilter and building a climate that values diversity of thought and promotes honest and open communication.
- It will provide effective feedback and coaching through regular check-ins with team members and identifying development needs to support employees in achieving their career goals.
- Act as the senior technology leader for QIP and QFP, executing on the technology strategy, vision and multi-year roadmap for the area and ensuring it is aligned to the Group technology strategy and business objectives.
- Manage the budget for the business area across both run and change, building robust business cases, driving cost transparency, and prioritising investment to maximise value and return.
- Be accountable for the ongoing service, stability, availability and operational resilience of the business applications, including major incident and problem management and business continuity for your area of responsibility.
- Champion cyber and information security for the area, ensuring solutions are secure by design and that security, data protection and privacy obligations are consistently met by aligning with the cyber security function
- Promote effective data governance and the use of data, analytics and emerging technologies (including AI) to generate insight and improve customer and business outcomes.
- Lead the commercial and contractual relationship with key third-party suppliers and delivery partners, managing performance against SLAs, value for money and delivery commitments.
- Ensure technology decisions, controls and outcomes meet the firm’s regulatory obligations – including Consumer Duty, operational resilience and the wider FCA regulatory framework – and consistently support good customer outcomes.

Key Relationships
You will build and maintain trusted relationships across a broad group of stakeholders, including:
- Business leadership and stakeholders across Quilter Investment Platform (QIP) and Quilter Financial Planning (QFP).
- The wider Technology leadership team.
- Enterprise and solution architecture, engineering, cyber security, data and service management functions.
- Change, portfolio and PMO teams responsible for delivery.
- Risk, Compliance, Operational Resilience and Information Security functions.
- Third-party technology suppliers, delivery partners and vendors.
About You
You will be able to lead, manage ambiguity and build consensus to deliver new and improved ways of working for our customers. Clarity and impact of communication will be vital in articulating ideas in a compelling manner to technical and non-technical audiences. This role will need you to be comfortable navigating complex environments, using an analytical approach to identify issues, develop solutions and drive continuous improvement.
This role requires someone with exceptional interpersonal skills with the aptitude to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, colleagues, and suppliers. This will require the ability to influence and persuade others while maintaining the consistent delivery of results and drive of change across teams and with stakeholders. There is a requirement for high energy, drive, and resilience to maintain focus on delivery in a fast-paced changing environment.
You will need to demonstrate credibility, professionalism and strong personal integrity and role model the Quilter values – Pioneering, Dependable, Stronger Together.
This role will be best suited to those with deep subject matter expertise, both business and technology. You will need a strong technology background, including significant experience managing technical teams and their deliverables. We are looking for someone who has experience driving innovation and challenging the status quo along with credible experience of complex technology delivery. We need someone with proven experience of working with, managing, and delivering through third party suppliers while managing across complex applications estates.
Excellent stakeholder management skills demonstrating the ability to translate technical and complex challenges into simple, clear updates, issues and/or risks for senior stakeholders. We want someone who can translate highly technical details into a digestible format that can aid decision making. We welcome applications from candidates with a deep understanding of the risk context and risk appetite that teams operate within. This role will be tasked with always ensuring that risk-based decisions are appropriate for the level of responsibility in the team. This will require considerable experience managing competing priorities and developing innovation led strategy.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Essential
- Significant experience in a senior technology leadership role (for example Head of, Technology Business Partner), ideally within financial services, wealth management, platforms or a comparable regulated environment.
- Proven track record of owning and delivering a technology strategy and roadmap for a business area or function, aligned to commercial objectives.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including experience of managing technology budgets, business cases and value / return on investment.
- Demonstrable experience of leading complex, end-to-end technology change and delivery across multiple teams and a complex applications estate.
- Experience of managing and delivering through third-party suppliers, including contract, commercial and performance management.
- Sound understanding of enterprise and solution architecture, software engineering practices, service management and operational resilience.
- Working knowledge of cyber security, data protection, and technology risk and controls.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to translate complex technical matters for senior, non-technical audiences.
- Experience of leading, developing and coaching high-performing technical teams, and building an inclusive, collaborative culture.
Desirable
- Understanding of the UK wealth, advice and investment platform markets and their customers.
- Experience operating within an agile / product-oriented delivery model and community-of-practice ways of working.
- Experience of large-scale transformation, modernisation or migration programmes.
- Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Relevant professional certifications are welcome (for example in architecture, project / programme / portfolio management, IT service management, agile or security) but are not essential where equivalent experience can be demonstrated.
