About the job.

National Highways have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Technology Engineer to join our team in the South East. As Senior Engineer, you will drive and coordinate the activities and resources involved in the identification of asset needs and development of early solutions for the asset class in scope, while assuring adherence to defined asset policies and standards.

This role can be based from our Basingstoke, Maidstone or Guildford office.

Please note that you will be required to drive as part of your role, and you will need to have no more than 3 points to be considered for this position and during employment.

  • Developing early solutions for improvements and/or renewals, including the compiling of relevant documents, evidence and options for value management, taking into account new techniques, materials, buildability and costs.
  • Identifying, preparing briefs and managing delivery of survey works that support the improvement and/or renewal of assets.
  • Developing the regions asset led forward programme and initial scheme development.
  • Providing technical support to Project Managers by assisting with materials approvals, vetting of contractors’ compliance, inspection support on site, and reviewing health and safety files.
  • Reviews of third-party designs for compliance to design and maintenance requirements.
  • Undertaking feasibility studies, investigations, and technology research to provide innovative solutions.

About you.

  • A Chartered or Incorporated Engineer and member of a relevant professional Body with appropriate experience
  • Degree or HND in related discipline and appropriate experience, or equivalent
  • Experience of ITS (Intelligent Transport system) and/or Traffic Signals
  • Strong understanding of CDM 2015
  • Knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) standards and their application on the highways network

External candidates will be offered a starting salary at the lower end of the pay scale, while current employees will be appointed in accordance with our established pay policy.
