Senior Technology Consultant – Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) & Smart Mobility

About the Role

Start here. Grow here. Our Technology Services Team is seeking a Senior Technology Consultant to drive innovation across Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV), Smart Cities, and mobility solutions for a global client base—spanning UK national authorities, combined, local municipalities, contractors, and private enterprises. You’ll guide cutting-edge projects, shape the future of transportation, and collaborate in a fast-evolving industry where technical leadership and vision are key.

The team offers a broad spectrum of services—strategic advisory, technical research, design, and project delivery—focused on transformational transport solutions. While core expertise lies in transportation, your specialist knowledge will underpin projects across sectors, pushing boundaries and uncovering next-gen opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist technical consultancy and design services for Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), Smart Cities, CAV, Mobility as a Service (MaaS), and C-ITS (Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems).
  • Provide innovative solutions across ITS strategies, action plans, smart infrastructure, and digital mobility ecosystem.
  • Lead project research, data analysis, and technology scouting to identify emerging solutions for client challenges.
  • Capture and translate complex stakeholder, system, and user requirements into system architecture, design documentation, and technical reports.
  • Benchmark current and future technologies, evaluating their application for real-world problems.
  • Develop feasibility studies, system performance assessments, and detailed designs for ITS and smart mobility projects.
  • Ensure deliverables meet client expectations and AECOM’s quality standards.
  • Liaise with clients to define project scope, feasibility, and deployment strategies.
  • Foster technical leadership across all project lifecycle stages, from inception to monitoring and optimisation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
