TechOps Generalist Vacancy
We are very excited to be growing our small and efficient TechOps team at Octopus. We aren’t looking for standard IT support—we are seeking an ambitious, deeply knowledgeable, and experienced TechOps Generalist to join our team, grow alongside the rest of the company, and ensure we are doing so in a secure and safe way.
About the Role
You will be a key partner in defining what TechOps is at Octopus. We will be continuing to shape this team to provide world-class support to our employees, build solutions that tackle problems with engineering firepower, and implement transformational organisational change. Our mantra isn’t just to "fix things"—we automate many of them out of existence.
For us, a Generalist isn’t about knowing a little of everything—it’s a multi-disciplinary role for someone who’s deeply experienced across many facets of Enterprise IT. Think of multi-domain expert—a *specialist with broad knowledge rather than a Jack of all trades.
What is TechOps?
A modern, lean version of traditional Enterprise IT, akin to one staff member per 1000 Octopus employees. Our scope spans:
- What most people term "1st-line IT support" right through to:
- Strategic, high-level planning.
- Everything in between.
We tackle big, complex problems, covering extensive challenges to ensure our people and organisation remain agile and efficient. Dealing with ambiguity is inherent to working in TechOps, making every day dynamic and exciting as you navigate challenges across the business.
Our approach is cloud-first to enable rapid scaling and focused value. We don’t utilise traditional on-premises Active Directory (AD) models.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Enterprise-Technology Rollouts & Projects
- Lead global projects including:
- Identity provider (IdP) migration or rollouts (e.g., Microsoft Entra/OKTA evolution).
- macOS and Windows MDM-scale deployments.
- Wider construction/networks ( VPNs, access controls, and tech setup for 6000+ staff strong).

Key Requirements
Experience & Expertise

- Hands-on identity deployment/PBAC: OAuth, OIDC, SAML, and interactive security (e.g., SCIM provisioning).
- Able to explain and implement policies for secure identities at scale.
- Mobile device management (MDM): macOS/Windows/iOS/Android deployments.
- Vendor partnerships: Expertise in toolchain integrations, billing, and contract streams.
Soft Skills & Collaboration
- Team player: No "w hörking craftsmanship"—transparency equals progress. Break problems down and make progress incrementally.
- Clear technical communicators (peer-to-peer to end-user) with a bias toward solution-craft, not "impossible demands".
- Multi-tasker or "plates-spinner"—able to juggle high-impact goals while meeting tight deadlines for multiple stakeholders.
- Pro-active ethical mindset: Decision-making for what’s right (not just easy) with a passion for process improvement.
Preferred Proficiencies
- Demonstrated examples of writing/maintaining scripts or building automation tools (Python/PowerShell/Bash).
- Experience driving end-to-end SaaS government tools (consider High تناول for compliance).
