Senior Test Support Engineer (Part-Time)
About the Role
Bring your curiosity to work as our next Senior Test Support Engineer in this part-time (21 hours/week) role. You will be part of our Test Support team, providing hands-on technical support for electronic test systems to ensure high-quality products and solutions for customers.
Your mission is to deliver senior-level support for ensuring equipment reliability, rapid resolution of complex issues, and continuity of expertise to support production performance and continuous improvement.
Overview
This is a part-time role, with the following working hours:
- Monday 08:00 – 16:45
- Thursday 08:00 – 16:45
- Friday 08:00 – 13:00
Reports to the Test Engineering Manager. Responsibilities include supporting all relevant test systems within PCA and Finals Zones.
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Provide advanced hands-on technical support for ICT, functional, and development test systems across Operations.
- Respond to complex Test Support tickets, leading fault diagnosis and resolution activities.
- Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians within the Test Support Team.
- Lead root cause analysis for recurring issues and help improve First Time Test Failure Rate (FTTFR) performance.
- Conduct and oversee preventative maintenance activities on test equipment and fixtures.
- Support the implementation of Engineering Change Documents (ECDs) into production test systems.
- Contribute to redesign and upgrade activities for legacy test systems, including validation and commissioning of duplicated test stations.
- Collaborate with Operations, Test Engineering, and Product Support to minimise disruption to production.
- Complete safety reviews of newly developed test stations and fixtures, ensuring compliance with Atlas Copco policies and safety guidelines.
- Escalate and coordinate the resolution of high-impact or cross-functional technical issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation of issues, solutions, and system updates.

Requirements
Your Skills & Experience
You will need either:
- An HNC/HND or Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Test Engineering, or equivalent.
- Five+ years of experience in electronic test support within a manufacturing environment.
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in electronic fault finding and test system diagnostics.
- Experience with ICT, functional test systems, and automated test platforms.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and system diagrams.
- Familiarity with test automation environments and tools (e.g., C#, LabVIEW, or similar).
- Knowledge of instrumentation and measurement techniques.
Professional Skills
- Proven ability to work independently in a senior technical support capacity.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Capacity to mentor and support junior colleagues.
- Effective communication across engineering and operations teams.
- Ability to prioritise workloads in a fast-paced production environment.
