Transport Management System (TMS) Specialist
We're looking for a Transport Management System (TMS) specialist to join Microlise and help customers transform their transport operations through the successful delivery of Transport Management System solutions. This isn't a traditional project management role. We're seeking someone who understands transport operations, can confidently configure and optimise TMS solutions, and enjoys working directly with customers to solve real-world logistics challenges.
Whether you've worked with Microlise or another Transport Management System, your practical TMS expertise, operational understanding and customer-focused approach are what matter most. You'll have the opportunity to work with some of the UK's leading transport and logistics operators, helping them improve efficiency, reduce costs and optimise their operations through innovative technology.
If you're passionate about transport technology, enjoy solving complex operational challenges and want to be recognised for your TMS expertise, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Be Doing
As a trusted TMS expert, you'll work closely with customers throughout the implementation lifecycle, ensuring solutions are configured effectively and deliver measurable operational improvements. You'll:
- Lead the implementation, configuration and optimisation of Transport Management System solutions
- Run customer workshops to understand transport operations, planning processes and business requirements
- Configure TMS solutions to support route planning, fleet utilisation, driver management, compliance and operational efficiency
- Support customers through User Acceptance Testing (UAT), validating workflows and ensuring operational readiness
- Troubleshoot planning, execution and configuration issues, identifying practical solutions and workarounds
- Deliver customer training on planning, dispatch, execution monitoring, exception management and reporting functionality
- Support go-live activities and provide post-implementation optimisation recommendations
- Work closely with customers to help them maximise the value of their TMS investment
- Test and validate TMS functionality, integrations and operational processes before deployment
- Collaborate with Product, Development and Support teams to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement
- Manage delivery activities, risks and issues to ensure successful customer outcomes

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
