Cobalt is partnering with a well-established property consultancy to recruit a Senior Surveyor - Senior Associate to join its growing Compulsory Purchase team.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to work on nationally significant infrastructure projects while joining a collaborative team recognised for its expertise across the compulsory purchase and compensation sector.

The successful candidate can be based from a number of UK offices, with hybrid and flexible working available.

The Role

Responsibilities

As a Senior Surveyor - Senior Associate, you will advise clients throughout the compulsory purchase and land assembly process, supporting projects from initial strategy through to completion. Key responsibilities include:

  • Advising clients on compulsory purchase and land assembly matters across a range of infrastructure projects.
  • Preparing and negotiating compensation claims in accordance with the Compulsory Purchase Code.
  • Advising on CPOs, DCOs, TWAOs and the acquisition of land and rights.
  • Preparing evidence for public inquiries and tribunals.
  • Supporting new business through tender submissions and fee proposals.
  • Mentoring junior surveyors and assisting with APC development.
  • Building strong relationships with colleagues and clients across the wider business.

Current projects include nationally significant road, rail and flood defence schemes.

The Successful Candidate

  • MRICS or AssocRICS qualification.
  • Working knowledge of compulsory purchase, compensation and land assembly matters gained within a similar consultancy environment.
  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Previous line management or mentoring experience would be advantageous.
