An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our client's dynamic team where innovation meets dedication.

Our client is a leading planning consultancy firm committed to shaping vibrant, sustainable communities. Their team in Southampton is expanding, and they are looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Town Planner to join them.

The Role

As a Senior Town Planner, you will play a crucial role in managing a diverse portfolio of planning projects. You will work collaboratively with clients, stakeholders, and local authorities to deliver high-quality planning solutions that align with a commitment to sustainability and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Lead and manage planning applications and appeals, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget.
  • Client Liaison: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, offering expert advice and support throughout the planning process.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct site appraisals, planning history research, and policy analysis to inform strategic planning decisions.
  • Report Writing: Prepare comprehensive planning reports, statements, and supporting documents.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor junior planners and contribute to their professional development.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate consultations with local authorities, community groups, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications And Experience

  • Education: Degree in Town Planning or a related field.
  • Professional Membership: Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI) or working towards it.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in town planning, preferably within a consultancy environment.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of the UK planning system, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and proficiency in planning software and tools.
