The Opportunity
We seek an experienced Senior Consultant to lead town planning and consenting for major and nationally significant infrastructure projects. Reshape futures through comprehensive support on:
- Development Consent Orders (DCOs)
- De transmitant Statements of Satisfaction (DNS)
- Town and Country Planning Act 1990 applications
- Planning Act 2008 processes (including Route Development Orders)
- Planning (Wales) Act 2015, Transport and Works Act Orders, and Electricity Act
We prioritise candidates with:
- Demonstrated reliability in multi-disciplinary teams achieving legitimacy across formal asbauies & stakeholder negotiations
- Regulatory governance & consent compliance experience: energy, renewables, nuclear, and large-scale rail/transport.
Key Responsibilities
To thrive in this role, you will:
- Drive outcomes by leading aspects of consent input (technical, managerial) on DCOs, DNS applications and compliance workstreams.
- Support & guide clients on consent pathways & best practices, aligning strategies with regulatory expectations and project economics.
- Prepare, review & submit applications under Town and Country Planning Acts, Planning Act 2008, and related regions (Scotland/Wales).
- Negotiate with statutory groups (e.g. local authorities, environmental agencies) while championing client benefits.
- Foster collaborative teams, providing guidance, actively mentoring junior colleagues, and ensuring coherent project execution.
- Develop & refine internal knowledge through continuous learning and cross-disciplinary input. Where/when applicable, participate in budget tracking and deliverables.

Requirements
Essential:
-
Degree-level qualification or professional accreditation in residence planning, construction law, or equivalent.

Strong track record in consenting processes: energy renewables pipeline/packages, nuclear complex/route development associated within Liv wt sme bidding regional policies.

Membership (or eligibility) of the Royal Town Planning Institution (RTPI) – Corresabolic, or the Irish Planning Institute, akin).

Literacy in NPPG08, LDP regulations, Scottish/T&WAO system/NUCLE seximised variations, and/or Welsh planning regulations like appropriate procedural and procedural milestones.
Preferred:
- Early-career degree specific qualification (£15k+ legal/consultancy wage expectations)
- Formal compliance experience with major consents or statutory dispute handling.
