About the Role
At Eni, we are looking for a Senior Trade Control Analyst to join Eni Trade & Biofuels (ETB) in London. In this role, you will:
- Perform daily transaction validation and control activities for energy commodities (Gas, Power, Emissions, LNG, and Oil Derivatives).
- Work closely with the Front Office and Middle Office teams.
- Take end-to-end ownership of controls and deliverables, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and deadlines.
- Act as a reference point for junior analysts and the Trade Control Manager when required.
About Eni Trade & Biofuels (ETB)
ETB is Eni’s global team specialising in crude oil, refined products, and biofuels trading and shipping. Our team of ~300 professionals operates across Rome, London, Singapore, and Houston (ETB Inc.), focusing on:
- Trading and shipping of hydrocarbons and biofuels
- Marketing equities, sourcing hydrocarbons and bio feedstocks
- Operating traditional and green refineries

Main Responsibilities
Core Trading Controls
- Perform daily trade validation for physical and financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with ETRM systems.
- Validate spot/forward market data and price curves per company procedures.
- Conduct Mandate & Unauthorised Trade Checks, escalating breaches as required.
- Execute daily physical and financial market conformity controls.
- Support end-of-day processes for transactions, ensuring Position & P&L reporting is generated on time.

Regulatory & Compliance
- Enforce compliance with EMIR, Dodd-Frank, REMIT, and MiFID II as first-level controls.
- Support SOX and internal controls, including control evidence collection, risk evaluation, and remediation follow-ups.
- Monitor trade lifecycle events (futures expiry, option exercises, deal amendments).
Escalation & Support
- Act as senior point of escalation for controls, systems, and regulatory queries.
- Provide day-to-day guidance and mentorship for junior analysts, ensuring quality and accuracy.
- Assist Front Office in approving new products or non-standard initiatives.
- Lead automation and digitalisation initiatives, including AI-based solutions and systems testing.
Reporting & Mitigation
- Manage month-end and quarter-end controls for energy transactions.
- Support exchange and clearing processes, validating broker fees, margin adjustments, and reconciliations.
- Resolve issues with clearing houses, brokers, and external regulators.
Skills & Experience Required
Qualifications
- University degree in a numeracy-oriented discipline (Finance, Economics, Risk Management, etc.).
- Fluent English ("French or Italian language skills are a plus").
Technical Skills
- 5+ years’ experience in Product Control, Market Risk, or Middle Office within a commodity/financial trading environment.
- Strong understanding of Gas, Power, LNG, Emissions, and Oil Derivatives markets.
- Knowledge of risk metrics, internal controls, and transaction monitoring.
- Proficiency in:
- Microsoft Excel (advanced tools and VBA)
- Power BI (a plus)
- SQL (a plus)
- Openlink Endur (a plus)
- Python (a plus)
- Familiarity with regulatory reporting (EMIR, REMIT, MiFID II) and audit processes.
