About the Role
At Eni Trade & Biofuels (ETB), we seek a Senior Trade Control Analyst to join our dynamic team in London. This role involves:
- Performing day-to-day transaction validation and controls across energy commodities (Power, Gas, LNG, Emissions, Oil Derivatives).
- Operating autonomously across controls, systems, and regulatory topics, taking end-to-end ownership of deliverables.
- Serving as a reference point for junior team members, providing guidance, reviews, and technical oversight.

Main Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Own and execute controls:
- End-to-end oversight of assigned controls and periodic deliverables, ensuring adherence to standards and audit trails.
- Lead and escalate:
- Act as a senior escalation point on controls, systems, and regulatory matters, deputising for the Trade Control Manager.
- Mentor and develop junior analysts through guidance, reviews, and coaching.
- Daily monitoring and validation:
- Validate physical/financial energy transactions (Gas, Power, Emissions, LNG, Oil Derivatives) in ETRM systems with accuracy and timeliness.
- Validate cover curves and price data (spot/forward) per company procedures.
- End-of-day compliance:
- Oversee the ETRM systems for Position & P&L reporting for daily trades.
- Conduct mandate/breach checks, escalating violations per governance rules.
- Day-to-day controls:
- Monitor market conformity for both physical/financial transactions.
- Support SOX and internal controls, including remediationussions and control evidence documentation.
- Track trade lifecycle events (futures expiry, option exercises, deal amendments), ensuring timely action.
- Exchange/clearing support:
- Reconcile with clearing houses/brokers, validate broker fees, and resolve margin-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with internal/external regulations.
- Reporting and analytics:
- Perform monthly/quarterly controls and monthly reporting.
- Monitor procedural compliance for regulations (EMIR, Dodd-Frank, REMIT, MiFID II), including reporting.
- Process enhancement:
- Lead automation/digitalization initiatives, including AI-based solutions.
- Guide system enhancements, coordinating testing, validation, and go-live activities.
- Front-office service:
- Support new product approvals and non-standard initiatives.
- Collaborate with Front Office, Middle Office, and risk managers on compliance, product approvals, and processes.

Requirements
Education & Background
- University degree in a numeracy-oriented discipline (Finance, Economics, Financial Engineering, Risk Management).
- 5+ years’ experience in Product Control, Market Risk, Middle Office, or Risk Management for commodity/financial trading, with Gas, Power, Emissions, LNG expertise.
Skills & Knowledge
- Proficient in risk metrics and internal control systems for physical/financial transactions.
- Strong IT & technical skills:
- Essential: MS Excel, VBA.
- Preferred: MS Power BI, SQL, Openlink Endur, Python.
- Deep understanding of:
- Control process in regulated trading environments, with exchange/market venue interfaces.
- Regulatory reporting (EMIR, REMIT, MiFID II, Dodd-Frank) and audit dynamics.
- Mindset: Strong analysis, risk assessment, attention to detail, and ability to escalate decisively.
- Leadership: Track record of mentoring junior analysts and acting as a technical reference.
- Organisational skills: Balance of efficiency, deadline management, and accuracy under pressure.
- Communication: NATO-level English fluency; Italian/French conversations an asset.
