About the Role
Are you ready to deliver Traffic Control Engineering projects to clients across the UK and internationally?
We are seeking a Senior Traffic Control Engineer to work within our national Technology Services team, delivering specialised consultancy and design services for a diverse client base.

The Technology Services team provides technical leadership from feasibility to performance monitoring, collaborating on projects like:

Bus Corridor Improvements
- Transport for London (TfL)
- Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM)
- Transport for West Midlands (TfWM)
- West England Combined Authority (WECA)
- Derbyshire County Council
- Swansea City Council
- National Transport Authority (NTA)
- Glasgow City Council (GCC)
Active Travel Improvements
- West England Combined Authority (WECA)

Traffic Signal Upgrades
- Derbyshire County Council
Public Realm & Town Centre Improvements
- City of Wolverhampton Council (CWC)
- Folkestone, Kent County Council (KCC)
Highway & Junction Modernisations

Your Key Responsibilities
Design & Delivery
- Deliver specialist traffic control engineering consultancy for internal and external clients.
- Produce technical design deliverables:
- Design layout drawings
- Design reports
- ITS1827 forms
- MOVA data sets and works specifications
- Safe-by-Design compliance evidence
- Implementation support through FAT, SAT, and MOVA/Bus Priority/SCOOT validation.
- Respond to technical queries, departures, and approval gate reviews.
Collaboration
- Coordinate with highways, structures, drainage, geotechnical, environment, and traffic teams for integrated designs.
- Provide client-facing technical communications across the UK.
- Mentor junior team members.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure alignment with UK standards (DMRB, TSM, TSRGD) and CDM 2015 regulations.
- Support broad programme, cost, and risk management, including bids, estimates, and technical proposals.
- Validate deliverables against client requirements and AECOM quality procedures.
Qualifications & Requirements
Core Skills & Experience
- BEng or equivalent in Electrical, Electronics, or Civil Engineering.
- NHSS8 / HERS registration.
- Extensive experience in:
- Traffic control design and implementation support (including MOVA systems).
- Advanced traffic control modes: MOVA/SCOOT (jakor, network, and corridor-level).
- Technically assured deliverables (AutoCAD, Civils3D, ITS1827, MOVA design reports).
- Proficiency in automated signal control systems and signal data preparation.
