Senior Traffic Dispatcher – Biffa

About the Role

Help us make a difference as a Senior Traffic Dispatcher.

The Senior Traffic Dispatcher will effectively manage the day-to-day organisation of operations at the Depot through the allocation and basic routing of vehicles to ensure best-in-class service delivery to customers. The role involves:

  • Maintaining health & safety standards
  • Ensuring environmental and O licence compliance
  • Supporting employee engagement
  • Driving continuous improvement in productivity and service quality

Your Core Responsibilities

Operational Management

  • Managing route efficiency and utilising optimum disposal outlets to ensure efficient use of vehicles and facilities
  • Overseeing driver availability and coverage in line with legislation and company procedures to guarantee suitable coverage at all times

Administrative Duties

  • Inputting payroll and bonuses onto company systems
  • Accurable input of disposal information into management systems
  • Maintaining administrative records, including:
    • Timesheets
    • Tachograph records
    • Payroll records
    • Holiday rosters
    • Resolution of vehicle/logistic query reports (QLS)

Vehicle & Fleet Oversight

  • Proactive vehicle management, including:
    • Liaison with fleet operations
    • Enforcement of safe vehicle operations
    • Wheel security monitoring
    • Monitoring of gross vehicle weights
  • Supervising daily vehicle availability and ensuring drivers complete safety checks per company policy

Cost & Performance Improvement

  • Contributing to ongoing cost control
  • Seeking operational efficiency improvements through analysis (e.g., Depot reports)
  • Aligning with the Depot Manager to deliver mandatory training, inductions, and toolbox talks

Our Essential Requirements

  • Extensive health & safety management experience
  • Strong knowledge of environmental and operational legislation
  • Proven experience in managing a labour-intensive, multi-shift environment
  • Previously held a similar role in the logistics or services industry
  • Excellent local geographical knowledge (region-specific relevance)
  • Deep transport/logistics knowledge
  • First-line operational management experience
