Senior Traffic Dispatcher - Fixed Term Contract

Location: High Wycombe Depot Contract: Monday to Friday


Help us make a difference as a Senior Traffic Dispatcher.

A Quick Look at the Role

The Senior Traffic Dispatcher will:

  • Effectively manage the day-to-day organisation of depot operations.
  • Allocate and route vehicles to ensure best-in-class service delivery, maintaining health & safety standards and environmental/O licence compliance.
  • Support employee engagement.
  • Drive continuous improvement in productivity and service quality.

Your Core Responsibilities

  • Managing route efficiency and optimising disposal outlets to ensure effective use of vehicles and facilities.
  • Managing driver availability and coverage in line with legislation and company procedures, ensuring suitable coverage at all times.
  • Performing administrative duties:
    • Input of pay and bonus onto company systems.
    • Accurate input of disposal information.
  • Proactive vehicle management:
    • Liaison with fleet operations.
    • Safe vehicle operations.
    • Wheel security monitor.
    • Monitoring vehicle gross weights.
  • Supervising daily vehicle availability, ensuring drivers complete checks in line with company policy.
  • Contributing to ongoing cost control and efficiency improvements, including:
    • Running and analysing depot reports.
  • Ensuring completion of all administrative tasks:
    • Time sheets.
    • Tachograph records.
    • Payroll records.
    • Holiday rotas.
    • Resolution of QLS (Qualifications, Licenses and Standards).
  • Ensuring mandatory training, induction, and toolbox talks are delivered in line with company policy (in conjunction with the Depot Manager).

Essential Requirements

  • Experience in health & safety management.
  • Knowledge of existing and impending environmental/health and safety legislation.
  • Experience managing in a labour-intensive, multi-shift environment.
  • Experience of a similar responsibility in services/logistics before.
  • Local geographical knowledge.
  • Good transport/logistics knowledge.
  • Experience of first-line operational management.
