Role: Senior Transformation Leader with Insurance Experience

Location: London (hybrid)
Duration: Contract

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be a visionary yet pragmatic, outcomes focused transformation leader who is comfortable taking ownership, operating at board level, and turning complex change into tangible business value. Deep, specialist expertise in UK insurance broking and the Lloyd’s and London market is essential, as are strong communication skills and the credibility to influence senior stakeholders.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years leading enterprise scale transformation and technology programmes, with a track record of delivering high value initiatives on outcome, budget, and time.
  • Deep, specialist domain expertise in UK insurance broking and the Lloyd’s and London market, including placement, binding, delegated authority, MGAs, market messaging, and settlement.
  • Demonstrable experience across platform modernisation, data and AI enablement, and operating model redesign.
  • Proven track record of stabilising, consolidating, and harmonising complex platform estates, ideally within an acquisitive environment following mergers and acquisitions.
  • Breadth across the insurance value chain: broking, policy administration, claims management, risk management, and reinsurance, spanning multiple lines including specialty.
  • Strong systems integration background, including integration of core finance systems with policy, claims, and settlement platforms.
  • Strong grounding in enterprise architecture concepts and the ability to challenge and steer technical direction credibly.
  • Excellent programme governance discipline, including business cases, benefits realisation, financial control, RAID, and executive reporting.
  • Strong vendor and systems integrator management, including commercial and contractual negotiation.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to tailor messages to senior stakeholders and technical delivery teams.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Direct experience with Lloyd’s modernisation (Blueprint Two), digital placement platforms, or core market infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with leading broking and policy administration platforms and market data standards such as ACORD and MRC.
  • Recognised programme and change credentials such as MSP, PMP, PRINCE2, SAFe, or Agile at scale.
  • Enterprise architecture credentials such as TOGAF, BCS Enterprise and Solution Architecture, or ArchiMate are advantageous.
  • Insurance qualifications from the Chartered Insurance Institute, such as Cert CII, Dip CII, or ACII leading to Chartered Insurer status, demonstrating insurance domain literacy.
  • London market credentials such as the CII Award or Certificate in London Market Insurance (units LM1, LM2, and LM3), or the Lloyd’s and London Market Introductory Test (LLMIT).
  • A reinsurance qualification, such as the relevant CII reinsurance unit, given the reinsurance scope of the estate.
  • Portfolio and change credentials such as MoP, P3O, or a recognised change management certification (for example APMG Change Management or Prosci).
  • Experience of M&A integration or platform consolidation after acquisitions within broking, insurance, or reinsurance.
  • Hands on exposure to cloud such as Azure or AWS, API integration, and modern data platforms.
  • Experience introducing AI and GenAI capabilities into a regulated financial services environment.
  • Knowledge of working in a regulated environment such as FCA, PRA, and GDPR, with awareness of global insurance regulatory requirements.
